HELP - Locost Camera - Driver CD Needed

I have bought a camera from Hong Kong via Ebay.
Its arrived and looks good. However there should have been a driver CD disk with it.

So anyone with one of these and has a and a CD with it, any chance of a copy?

DVR Sports Video Camera SpyCam MD80 DC

Thanks in advance

I got the AEE MD80 one
Drivers may well be the same?

If so I can host or email them if needed
May also be the same drivers for the Veho MUVI - worth checking out their site

I've got one of those cameras - the driver on the disk didn't work and, in the end, wasn't needed.

In my case the camera works just like a USB drive - plug it in and read its files (in the DCIM directory, IIRC)

You only need the driver if you want to use the camera as a web cam.

Mine turned up yesterday!

Got it all sorted... Just need a nice dry day to attach the Viento to the camera.

Well at first impression, its definately worth the tenner I paid, and the weeks delivery from Honkers (HK).
The Instructions are not the best and are written in Real Chinglish!

Still trying to get to grips of what button does what.

Still well pleased as it works! ie not a DOA job.

Cheers for all the help.

PS... Have sussed the Date thing.

Geoff,

Did you just work out how to set the date? Or how to get rid of it altogether?

I've done the first, haven't worked out the second...

Ah you put the date in the text file and put the file in th top level directory and it reads it in and the deletes the file.
I put it in all 3 directories to find that out!

Just edit the file in notepad, as its a text file.
Word will screw it royally as it will add all the text formatting in.

Im still working on what sequence to press the buttons to do each function.

Perhaps the collective knowlege can put together an idiots guide. God knows we need it....

vox, then power = webcam mode
power then vox= record to card in vox mode

(Edited to add , not sure on yours as mine has slidey buttons so not sure if its a case of holding VOX down whilst popping the power button on to get into this mode?)

Mine will record whilst charging (though is aparently a bit fussy about power requirements to do so) and am currently looking into making suitable external battery power pack as the internal does not last the distance with my 8 gig card

Mine just arrived today (from
here)

A couple of things, though:

I thought I had a suitable card, but find I have got a Mini SD and not a Micro SD. Doh! Btw, does anyone know if these devices support SDHC (High Capacity) or only regular SD?

The camera I got is the same as the one in the picture, but the picture in the manual is slightly different (the buttons, for example).

I installed the driver on the disk, but it doesn't seem to recognise the camera...

Anyway, once I get gold of a micro SD card I will try it out

Genuine MD80's seem happy with the SDHC cards

Make sure its class 6

Got an 8 gig class 6 from Veho who sell on ebay- think their username is lifestyle_gadget_store

Came next day and seems to work OK and pretty inexpensive compared to other places

Rob

I got mine last week - just had to wait for my Micro SD card to arrive to test it out! I got an 8GB Micro SD and tried out the camera today. Brilliant quality video, though it is a little blue I think.

I have set up the date OK, but, especially since it is in American format it would be nice to be able to switch off the date completely - anyone know how?

Also, I installed the driver from the file on the CD (SPCA1528_V2220_MultiLan_090217.exe), but when I run Amcap it says I don;t have any video capture devices connected, even though it IS connected to the PC via USB.

Any ideas?

TIA

Simon

EDIT: silly me! I looked at the manual (doh!) and found how to use it as a webcam:

"Under power off or power on mode, use USB cable to connect computer, the mode is U disk mode. Then short press MODE button, at this moment it can be switched into PC camera mode. Then double press AMCAP icon can be used as PC camera."

Still interested in how to amend the date format/get rid of it completely

These are the instructions I followed (nicked from the bikeradar thread):

Open the root folder of the card in Windows, create a new text file, call it TAG.txt, open the file and type

[date]
2009/12/23
22:04:00

Close and save the file
turn off camera
turn on
date should be set

Basically, connect the camera, open my computer and find camera (as storage device), double click on that and that'll give you the camera (something like DC100).

Click on File, New, go to text document which brings up notepad. Then follow instructions above but change date, time as necessary.
