if I may say so, thats bolllox
I have been perceived as a rover hater, here is a chance to prove otherwise.
The metro came out in 1980 - 24 years ago. It was produced by austin morris from what was basically bits of 1959 minis.
It got rave reviews at the time. Its quite fun to drive, the handling is good, and I have had 2 of em.
in 2004, its perhaps not so good. But for an early 80s 'supermini' it cuts the mustard.
Worse car I ever drove is a tossup between a suzuki vitara, a chevette van, and a panda

A mate of mine had a FSO Polonez. He came out of work one day and thought someone had nicked it apart from the tyres but there'd been some rain
and it had dissolved . Honest truth guv
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
