Satnav and new mobile required

I'm after a satnav (with traffic report) but also a new mobile so I wanted to know what peoples experiences are (i don't have a satnav currently) The satnav is mainly for when they traffic is bad on my daily (55mile) commute and i decide to head off and find my way home on the B roads. The phone needs to have apps as I am definately bored with my current (no app phone) but I also don't want to pay the earth or pay a huge monthly fee.

Ideas please

cheers Pete

I have a TomTom XL with traffic and a TMobile G2 (HTC Hero) with CoPilot Live/traffic, both very good,I have got the G2 on unlimited internet,300 minutes + 700 texts for £27 per month, cheaper if you take out a 24month contract, phone was free. Loads of free apps on Google market place, CoPilot was £26, I use this more than TomTom.

I'll be the first to say Nokia 5800.

The built-in sat-nav is excellent with traffic etc. everything you'd expect from an expensive sat-nav, but free

Apps aplenty on the OVI store, search for race-chrono

Had a Nokia 5800 and whilst it was pretty good and certainly the bst phone I'd had to date for web browsing it's a completely differtent world to the iPhone. Seriously, if you want apps then you want an iPhone, HUGE choice, and lots for free. And you can buy TomTom for the iPhone, and it looks great on the big screen.

I had Navman on the Nokia and it was slow and unresponsive so much so it drove me nuts.

The screen on the Nokia is a very basic push type, the screen on the iPhone is a joy to behold. And whilst you can email and surf on the Nokia, it's all just SO much easier and more enjoyable on the iPhone.

I've got a £35 a month deal with unlimited internet, and about 600 mins and texts, and the phone was £90.

My wife now has my old Nokia and is just waiting till the end of contract to get an iPhone.

Try them both in a phone store and make up your own mind.

Can I just point out the following ?
"but I also don't want to pay the earth or pay a huge monthly fee."
Which kinda rules out the iphone when compared to the £18 per month contract I'm on for the 5800

Thanks Guys
I was looking at the 5800 as one option. I do like the iphone and would probably perfer that if it wasn't so expensive but I think its 5800 for me then. But i'll go in and have a play first

cheers Pete
