help needed! re;piston design
Does anyone know a site, or happens to have information about any piston relating to;
material,
expansion,
crown,
friction-reduction,
rings,
and anything about the conrods that are used with them.
This is desperately needed for an assignment due in very soon!

material; commonly aluminium alloy these days (which one is anybodies guess).
expansion: look up coefficient of thermal expansion, it all depends on the material....
crown: can be flat or profiled, depends on valve train geometry etc
friction-reduction: oil....
rings: several...compression rings and oil ring.
Conrods in performance applications are forged, in normal conditions they are cast. Commonly forged ones are made of EN24T steel.
Not a lot of info im afraid but its a start i spose!

I can't be bothered to type in all the highly informative websites I just found with a simple Google search in the last 2 minutes, because
presumably you already found them.
There seem to be loads, but you need to pick and mix.

cheers, though I need the information to be specific to a certain piston, not general information if you know what I mean.

I did, and am still doing searches. This is not a generalised subject i'm looking for, and as its coursework its not the sort of thing where
answers are readily available on google.
I was on the site earlier looking for information for an unrelated matter, and posted this after starting searches elsewhere, assuming some
people on here had information they'd be willing to share.

Have you tried looking at piston manufacture sites (hepolite is the only one I remember) for info - you may need to call them and ask for data sheets
or summat.
As you are asking for specific info on a specific single piston, that may be the only way to go.
