Which Sports/Tourer?
OK just flying kites at the moment.
We've booked (and paid for) a week in Italy beginning May.
If the airlines are still restricting flights I reckon the best way to get there will be by bike.
Trouble is the ones currently in the stable aren't suitable.
So anyone recommend/have for sale a nice Sports/Tourer? Needs to be relatively comfy as SWIMBO and I aren't in the first flush of youth and not
Beemers as I gather the running costs can be extreme.
It can't cost big wongas but doesn't need to be that new providing it's reliable/reasonable mileage.
Panniers and top-box an advantage.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Cheers, Pewe

Mook - might have known a fellow SAAB owner would have come up with that one - brain says Pan, heart says Duke (but I guess that's as expensive
to run as a Beemer and probably a bit fragile). Cheers, Pewe
PS Suppose we could always drop off at the Duke factory in Bologna on the way through.

My mate recently acquired a BMW GS (having slated everyone for trying to be like Ewan and Charlie, he went and did it himself anyway).
He reckons it's the best bike for touring he's ever had (and he's had many, many bikes, including an earlier GS).

ZX12r everytime for me !!!!
Did a bit of touring on one a few years back and it was the dogs watstits.
Toured all day with luggage and once at base was great for having fun in and around the places we stayed.
The wife also thought it was great to.
Rock solid stability and endless power to boot

VFR 800 every time!
3000 miles down to montenegro via alpine passes and the ring last summer on mine convinced me that it was the way forward.
(unless I had the money in which case itd be a GS1200 with hard luggage and sat nav!)

I ran a Triumph Sprint ST1050 for almost 3 years. Had a trip to the Alps and a trip to Slovenia while I had it. Loved the bike but fancied something a
bit more hooligan so swapped it for a 1050 Speed Triple.
Managed to ride from Slovenia to Leeds in a day so no issues on comfort with it although you probably get a bit more vibration on the bars than you
would an I4 bike due to the nature of the triple engine.

Wouldn't touch Ducatti with a barge pole unless it was being bolted to the wall as looking at them is all they are good for.
I had a 'busa but couldn't recommend as you'll be halfway through a ste of tyres by Paris.
A friend had had three Pans last time I'd seen him and clocked up over a 1/4 million miles on them so I reckon that's be your answer
