Never seen the attraction - would rather go and walk in the countryside than round a golf course...

It seems to be almost a default "sport" for people in my industry and associated industries (police, solicitors etc). I've never seen the attraction and so far have avoided it but at seminars, events etc it's easy to get left out of conversations when that's all they talk about. Not great in an industry where networking is everything

i stopped playing after i fell ill, had a handicap of about 16.

most people give up at the driving range because they can't hit the ball straight or it only goes 100 yards etc etc. its just like any other sport, the more you practice the better you get.

golf is like a double edged sword, when your playing well it can be very satisfying playing but when your on a bad day, you can feel like packing the sport in all together

I love Pinto's, even if i did get mine from P&O!

Everyone else in my family plays but I just do not have the temperament for it. I quite enjoy going to the range (until my damaged fingers start acheing) and can hit the ball a long way.

However, every bad shot on the course is like a little bit of personal failure and I don't deal well with that. That's why rugby is so cathartic. You make a mistake and take it out on the guy you have to tackle next.

I'm a fraud investigator so I tend to mix with retired coppers, solicitors, etc. Fortunately in the company I work for there's not so many but it tends to be those I have to "network" with.

I play a few times a year but it's normally early morning with a mate so we're on the course for about 7 ish and off before 10. Haven't really lost anything in the day then.
I don't mind it but I wouldn't say I'm an enthusiast. I get more excited by snowboarding or paragliding and I've just bought a mountain bike so golf goes down the list a bit.

ETA: Yes, I did own a BMW (a Z3 M Coupe) and the missus has an X-type (pretend Jag )

I used to play golf. Trouble was the more I practised the worse I got. So I took the ultimate decision to be brilliant by never playing. true!!

Golf isn't a game, it's a carreer move!

Can't remember who said that either

My father plays, but he has a merc.

My old boss when I worked in London was a 6 handicap left handed and 2 r/handed.

I suggested that if he concentrated on r/h, he's be a scratch player
