Digital Audio Workstation - Recommendations?
Played around with the old 'trackers' (noise tracker/sound tracker etc) on the Amiga years ago and have recently been looking at tinkering
around with the new generation of DAW's.
I remember downloading a version of fruity loops years ago but can't remember if it was my cup of tea or not. I understand it's still
available as FL studio. The free option (i.e without using torrent sites  ) seems to be LMMS (for windows)
Does anyone on here use or had experience of the other alternatives? Cubase/Reason/Sonar/Logic/Nuendo etc?
I understand alot depends on your ability with sequencing and the vst's you use 
Any insights appreciated

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

Depends what you're after doing. I used to use Cubase a lot and the vst's available are very powerful. You can run reason through cubase
as a vst also.

I tried ProTools and Sonar, but always ended up going back to Cubase. To a fair extent, the 'best' software is the one you know how to
use best! I've pretty much gotten rid of all my outboard gear now and it's all VST instruments with Cubase.
Have a look for the Spectrasonics Omnisphere synth - truly amazing.

I used to use Sonar, but just for real instruments. I couldn't figure out the synth or the drum machines. I know that is what it was made for,
which made the price I paid even more frustrating! I did a lot of music on it though, just recording guitars, bass, vocals, and importing drum beats
from other programmes. There are a lot of plug ins available for it, and I got some good sounds from it. I'm not a good producer though: never
got that full sound I wanted. I think I recorded everything too hot.
