Any amateur magicians on here who can explain a trick?

My boss is practicing a few sleight of hand pieces as he has an exam/audition for his local magic circle. Some of his tricks in the past have been a bit "average" but he showed me one today and it's stumped me a bit.

Goes like this - Pack of regular cards, on the back of which in big black marker pen are the numbers 1 - 52 randomly. Asks three of us to pick three totally random cards which he then finds in the deck and lays down face up on the table. Then does his whole spiel about seeing the future blah blah blah and pulls a photo out of his pocket of three cards with the backs facing with the pen numbers on. Turns our cards over in order and they are as per the photo. Usually I am quite good at spotting the sleight of hand or whatever but this one has me confused.com

they basically shuffle them in such a way that the cards they want you to take are in set places, so then they kinda offer them up a bit...its something along those lines

The pack was not open in any way. He didn't ask us to point at a card, just to pick one in our heads then he found it in the deck?

Quite simple really. I may well risk getting kicked out of the 'circle' for telling you this....
In his jacket pocket he has 132600 different photos of all the possible combinations. When you all tell him the numbers he simply takes out the relevant photo and makes it look like he's a genius*

*well thats how I would do it

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

That's pretty much it, although the photo was in the same order that they were picked!!

ok, explain this one.

clench your fists then stick out the thumb and fore finger on both hands to make a "C" shape.

then put an elastic band over thumb and fore finger, use the middle finger to hold the elastic band in place over the fore finger.

move both hand together so the bands are at 90 degrees and touch.

rub the bands against each other (for show) and hey presto, before your very eyes one elastic band has "passed through" the other.

and the same can be done to unlink them.
