does anyone work for Lidl?
its bad times for jobs round here you know currently doing an awful job for even worse money
someone told me Lidl were starting to take people on. wouldn't mind working in a shop again, be able to move about etc. not tied to a desk and
phone for 11 hours a day like now...
someone told me they pay really well, but i can really believe it. but they do give 30 days holiday a year! makes a big change from my 21 days i get
just now...

My nephew works for Lidl, he gets serious money, but has to work like a trojan, the second they think you are easing off - your'e sacked
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

how do you mean working like a trojan? i'm currently doing 40 hour weeks, 11 hours (10 not including breaks) a day four days a week, and for £6
an hour. plus you're stuck in one seat all day. its a call centre... and its constant calls all day every day. no sick pay if you're off
either, and no benefits. really not good

blake you don't want to work for aldi or lidl. my brother is a store manager for Aldi and works about 70-80 hours a week yet only gets paid his
contract 40 hours!!!!!!!!!!!
Aldi say its expected as he's a manager, and its for the need of the business!!!! a complete crock of sh*t if you ask me.
Supermarkets don't give a poo about their staff, the managers are driven to perform and end up treating the staff like sh*t!
trust me mate, im sure anything else would be better!
I love Pinto's, even if i did get mine from P&O!

My current contract at Further Educations says
You will be working 37 hours a week
37 days of holidays + Bank Holidays etc...
and further down it says:
You are supposed to work as many hours as necessary in order to be prepared for your sessions.
which means another 6-8 hours a day

My lad was a manager for B & Q he worked loads of hours above his contracted hours and it was expected, used to get called on his days off and
expected to change hours at the drop of a hat, not all roses out there!

what about a supermarket distribution warehouse my brother worked at a tesco one in peterborough and he said it paid quite well and subsidised canteen
lots of holiday and other perks the thing he didnt like was that almost everyone spoke polish so he didnt have anyone to talk to at dinnertime and
his superviser who was paid more than him needed a calculater to work out 20 cartons of orange juice 10 layers high on a pallet is 200 cartons then
could'nt work out how many pallets he needed to make the 1000 he needed for the lorry

I work 37 hours per week almost every week. The working time directive exists to prevent employers demanding more than 48 hours per week (on average)
yet people are still pushing government to opt out of it. Me, I would make it mandatory. Employers take the mick with their contracts of employment.
They specify a number of hours per week then flagrantly breach it. The same contract specifies a sum of money but they won't go over that by a
penny. Luckily, my last two employers have had a reasonable attitude to overtime.

That's the key bit - When the working time directive came in it was 'suggested' that we should opt out of it!

Which means that even before you start your job, You are bound to fail.
I am contracted to do 825-850 contact hours per year.
Last year i did more than 1100 hours.

For years now, I've always worked more than my contracted hours. Nota huge amount, but I still did it.
We were recently told that this must stop and that we haven't to build up flexi time any more.
So instead of starting at 8.00, I must now start at 8.45 or thereabouts.
And instead of having a 30 min lunch break, I am to take the standard 1 hour.
I don't get it.
I'm not complaining, but I just don't get it.
