My Stolen Trailer
Hi All,
OK, I've calmed down a bit now. Just 3  's.
Thursday night some bar steward stole my box / flat bed (removable sides) trailer from my garden.
Smashed the PIR's on the security lights on my garage and my next door neighbors and dragged it across the flower beds and out of the neighbours
drive.
It had a large Yale padlock through the hitch handle so it couldn't be hitched onto a towbar.

I know it's a long shot but if anyone spots it, maybe on eBay, you can watch me give the thieving scrote lots of hugs and kisses. 
50mm box chassis with galv sheet body, Mini wheels and indispension units.
O well, back to fitting the new lights.
What a way to spend a Bank holiday weekend.

Sorry to hear about that, 907 - I know just how you feel - I thought my rear garden was secure a few years ago until some thieves, after raiding next
- door neighbor's van for a pile of tools decided to climb over my two back gates (one after the other) broke the lock and door on my shed and
stole 3 mountain bikes worth a packet...
I got reimbursed with new - for old cover with the bikes - glad the insurance covered them.
Can you claim on your house insurance for the trailer?
I will certainly keep an eye out on ebay for you, but I'm afraid that the guy will disguise it first.

I'm gutted for you Paul. I can't believe anyone would be crazy enough to nick anything from your neck of the woods - it must be deathly
quiet there during the night and the slightest noise must really stand out.
I'll keep my eyes peeled

Damn- little gits. I don't understand smashing the sensors unless they did it from a distance (e.g. air rifle). To get to the lights to smash
them they'd already be well illuminated.
It's a sad world...

If I remember rightly you're somewhere near me (Haverhill), had the police knock on the door last weekend as my neigbours trailer (much the same
as yours) had been stolen that night, he did mention that it wasn't the only one to have gone missing in town over that weekend, someone seems
to have a trailer fetish they're fulfilling at the moment

Get to your local auction, the cattle market type, my Mrs been the horsey type means we often go to Derby cattle market, there are always a number of
trailers entered, I always look for the bargain, I always also look for the chassis plate, there nearly always freshly removed some blatantly some
with some attempt to make it look like its been missing for some years.
I realise yours probably doesn't have a plate in the 1st place but that's where its destined, pikeys/auction every time, get googling and
get to your local auctions.
I will take a look for yours next time we go, I once purchased a box trailer which turned out to have been stolen from Birmingham the night before, we
got all out money back from the auction but that's the reason I no longer buy from there even if they look 100% legit which most dont tbh.

By strange coincidence a day or two before the thefts I had noticed Tesco car park was overflowing with Pikeys that just turned up in town.... not

Thanks everyone for their comments and sorry to hear of your own losses.
No house insurance cover for trailers unfortunately.
As for recognizing it, no problem. I know every rivet, nut & bolt.
Owing to the job I had when I made it the hinge strips riveted to the sides are stainless.
The sides and ends are galv and folded. The corners are bronze welded so not to burn the galv off.
I can think of a dozen other things.
Spent today fitting hidden PIR sensors out of reach of long sticks.
Tomorrow I'll fit a second ground anchor for the car trailer.
I did hope to play catch up, work wise, this weekend.

Good idea with the PIR sensors, around here seems standard practice to smash/turn around the PIR sensor during a burglary.
