scam or not?
And my role at this present time is to align Unaligned broadband onto customer account as the broadband info-structure within BT has changed (This
means that your old version of BT Yahoo Broadband will be migrated to the most up to date options which we can be included on your normal bill like
your phone line and allows you to get the best speed & prices!)
I am aware that there has been a set back with your broadband merging over and I do apologise for the time it has taken and I thank you so very much
for your patients
You have requested Broadband Opt 1 on looking into your usage you have been going over the border line of the usage ..
Broadband Option 1 is 10Gb ……. Your highest average in the last 6 months is see below.
Summary of Usage Usage in September - 5822 Mb upto 12/09/10
Usage in August - 7.82 GB
Usage in July - 9.55 GB
Usage in June - 12.65 GB
Usage in May - 18.66 GB
Usage in April - 16.20 GB
This would incur charges if you was to go over 10Gb www.bt.com/broadbandusagepolicy
On Re-viewing over your account I can see that you are currently on BT Yahoo Broadband £24.99 per month 1Mb speed
I Do Advise Broadband Option 2 unless your Broadband usage has changed (E.g. Number of people using or Pcs/ Laptops, Downloading
Your email Address will be Retained so you do not loose contact with your friends and family…...
I will give you comparison of the offers and will show you which is the best Offer for you !

These email scams are so predictable.
The first thing that anyone should do is ask yourself these questions (in the above case) 'Do I have BT Option 1?, Do I have a phone bill of
this amount?, Did I use that much broadband in those months? How could anyone outside BT have access to this information?'
If you can positively answer these questions then there might be a chance of the email being legitimate.
Someone asked about how these people get the information - the next time you put out your bin ask yourself did I leave any personal information in
here? It is amazing the amount of personal information that gets discarded without the thought of it getting into the wrong hands.
I continuously get email telling me that I have won the Euro Lottery or some other lottery and would I pass on my details to some pimpled face college
student so that he can rip me off. There was a case recently where a couple from Hawaii arrived in Belfast to meet someone outside the Northern Bank
at the City Hall. There they were to receive a cheque for $500,000 as they had won the Irish Lottery. It is a pity that they did not ask themselves
'Do I participate in the Irish Lottery?' as it would have saved them the air fare from Hawaii to Belfast.
For the scammers who use the university/college to receive their replies, I usually send the uni/college bosses a copy of the email asking do you
allow your students to do this?
