Mobile Phones
My phone contract has just come to an end and I'd like to change to a new handset as the current one has had it. I don't tend to keep up
to date with the one to have so has anyone got any suggestions?
An iPhone would be nice but not sure I can justify the cost at the moment so unless you can come up with a REALLY convincing arguement please dont
suggest it!

im the same as you my old phone is old hence need a new 1 htc desire looks very good also htc wildfire also lots of people have the iphone its good to
be different

Here we go again!!!
It's CEC v BEC basically. Some on here love Android smartphones, others love the iPhone and many are happy with just a regular phone.
It depends what you want a phone to do. I use my iPhone for LOADS more than just a phone or an easy way to text. I use it as a Sat Nav, for email, for
Flickr, Twitter, playing loads of great games, for Ebay, Wikipedia, browsing the internet very easily, watching TV, for Trip Advisor, Skype and a
radio and alarm clock, listening to music, podcasts and watching videos, reading BBC news, calender, camera and getting the latest weather to name
just some.
So I use my phone more for other functions than making calls and the iPhone does it all with ease.
If you're not living life on the edge you're taking up too much room.

its all down to how you want to use it if you want just a phone save lots of pennys buy a low cost type phone £30 or 1 with all the mod cons for
approx £300 or more htc do a new evo on 4g but cost is a lot £500 approx thats a lot for a dog and bone its your call lol

iphone has an app which enables you to make calls :O)

Once you decide which handset you want, have a look over at HotUKdeals for really cheap
contracts/phones.
They have a deal posted at the moment that I'd snap up if
I didn't have 3 months left on my contract.
There's also a new android handset from Ornage called the San
Francisco that's getting good reviews, for only £100 with no contract.

They've just upgraded us in work.
The iphone 4 is superb, it has a good camera, video, relatively quick browsing and loads of apps only my kids use.
The only thing that lets it down is the phone part, it's shite 
No one rings me now as it's a battle, still buy an iphone 4, life is much quiter with one

I had a 5800 before and believe me it's NOTHING like using an iPhone - it's like chalk and cheese, just because it has the same functions
doesn't mean it's anything like as nice and easy to use, I gave mine to my daughter ....

Apologies for starting another BEC/CEC-esque battle. Thanks for the responses anyway...
At the moment I don't tend to look at emails, browse the web on the phone etc as mine is to clunky and not designed to do it. May do from now on
though if it was easier.
Quite tempted by the Desire from the above deal. Is it just a until they run out type deal as I can't see a finish date? Is it now commonplace
to be tied in for 2yrs? I've always winced at anything more that 12 months...

I used to be a phone is a phone man, my kids took the pi55, using Macs at work I new the iPhone would work but did not realise how much I would use
it.

i went the total other extreme, put my tariff down to £8.50 a month, and bought a PAYG for £14 (including a £10 voucher).
But as you'd expect, its a VERY basic phone.
