Deffo an offence and should be taken seriously. Convictions have resulted in anything from 200 hrs Community Service (!) to imprisonment. Serious risk of sight damage and my feeling is that charges should be pressed.
Cheers, Pewe

The way things go in this wonderful country of ours you will probably get two years suspended and a warning if you upset the little darlings.

You really need corroborative evidence to send someone to court in Scotland.

Two (or more) eye-witnesses is considered 'best evidence'.

One eyewitness and suitable 'circumstantial evidence' may also do - i.e. when the Police go to the house, they find a little turdling matching the description you gave holding a laser-pen in his grubby mitts. Or said turdling doesn't have the laser but coughs up to being the culprit when questioned.

That said, if he's a youngster then the Police would normally send reports's's's's's's's's to the Childrens Reporter and Social Work Dept just on the basis of the allegation itself (basically to cover their backs - this is what Policing in this country has been reduced to). Neither agency will do anything productive with said reports.

Unfortunately he won't be flayed either way... most unsatisfactory indeed!

Just for Devil's Advocate purposes, how can you differentiate from some kid trying to blind you and some kid waving it around your person? I for one have tried to make it look like someone was about to get sniper'd

i shall say this only....4 times

was it a red laser or a green one? i doubt most cheap red ones have enough power to do any damage.

Result!

Person admitted doing it and was charged with reckless misconduct. The laser was bought on holiday, a cheap one so chances of damage are minimal ! Thank goodness The laser was destroyed.

The system worked for me for once!
