Am planning on getting this as my next project. Any owners reviews? pro's and cons would be a daily driver as well.

i had one, albeit a 3000gt (the uk model).
Mine was a 1993 which makes it a mk1.
There are obviously N/A or turbo models, both will break your bank on fuel costs. My turbo one returned around 10mpg, but then i did drive it quite
fast!
Should be fairly reliable though but bear in mind it's an oldish car. Repairs can be costly, the clutch was £500 to replace on mine...
Otherwise i absolutely loved it! Stupidly quick with insane gear ratios and you get a great sense of driving a big expensive car (lots of head
turning) but then surely that happens in the locost anyway...!
You can pick them up really cheap now so just take your time finding a half decent one and should be fine...
Question for you is any reason for the GTO or have you got other prospective cars on the list?

If I remember right you really don't want to have to change atleast 3 of the spark plugs,also good luck opening the door wide enough to get out
in a parking space!other than that and the fuel its a lot of car for the money.UK 3000gt were higher spec and I'm not sure if they also had more
electronic suspension gismos,its a long time since I've had anything to do with them.non turbo gto's aren't actually that quick btw

was gonna go for an rx-8. but i noticed the price i can pick one this up for, leaving me alot more money to have fun installing bits and pieces.
gonna have a full engine rebuild if i get one cheap. 10mpg is pretty scary though.

depends how you drive it, but if you're getting a turbo beast, definitely don't be expecting anything much more than 20mpg!

that'll never happen! despite the fuel problems, it's such a nice cruising car too! it was built as a luxury supercar... definitely one
of the nicest cars i've ever driven!
The rear wheel steer is strange to get used to, always feels like you're steering in too early...
Go and have a test drive, i think you'll like!

From what I've seen and heard (and this is being basic) bolt in a new tank, cut a hole and fit the filler bit. Run the pipe up to the engine and
something about the injectors. Apparently can be done by just about anyone but it does have to be checked over

I once read the GTO was an example of where super duper high tech electronic suspension, 4WD and 4WS didn't really gel together, whereas the
Skyline was an example of where super duper high tech electronic suspension, 4WD and 4WS all come together beautifully. Never driven either though!

i think the problem was more with the price tag.
The 3000 was £55,000 new, a lot more than a skyline, yet a skyline would probably do just as well. Never driven a skyline, but the 3000 was awesome,
true it's a massive lard, but it still did pretty well in the corners, the 4wd was excellent, the 4ws..... took some getting used to and got me
into a couple of tricky situations, but for the money you pay for one of these nowadays its a lot of car for the money!

But an RX8 does 10 miles per gallon of oil! lol.
Seriously though, my mate Ban had an RX8 and it didn't half like a drop. 20mpg and he was topping the oil up a considerable amount weekly, and
it wasn't a tired old one either.

i ran an rx8 for a year and we averaged 17mpg. want as bad on oil as i expected.
go for the gto for a bit more exclusivity

I used to import them. Non turbo is much more reliable but slower, still a nice cruising car. One turbo spec had electric front and rear spoilers,
these usually did not work and the front one got smashed on sppped bumps, expensive to replace. I'd go for a grey import, much cheaper and more
abundant
