I had a volvo 340 for a while, in the wet it could be frightening

How about a rover 220 or 420 they can be had fairly cheap are quite quick!

I like my VeeDubs. What about a MKII Golf GTi or a Scirocco GT?

A bit of slapstick never hurt anyone.

on that list, subject to popular opinion that I dont like rovers, I voted 214.

There is some serious crap on that list.

If you wanty to die, get an ax. They are about 100 kilos lighter than a car of its time, and thats gotta show. The tailgate is actually hinged glass at the top, and the lower part is plastic.

take a look at this page and tell me you dont want a mazda!

I've gone BX GTi, they've got fantastic engines, so if all else fails you can rip it out and stick it in your kit car instead!

XR2 all the way. I've just bought another and I'm loving having a hot hatch again!

It's mint condition apart from a few parking knocks on the doors and a grubby drivers seat. 62,000 on the clock when I got it, every MOT/receipt since new, full main dealer service history and owes me £600. Bargain!

What ever you buy, don't cover it in honey and drive it through Halfords - Bolting bits of GRP or"neons" on to it marks you out as a man who needs a "mopping up cloth" if you know what I mean, and I think you do.....

Cheers

Chris

BTW - What about an Escort convertible, cheap and just right for the weather(this week)

Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

Hold on, that cars polish,

It's Polish, tell him Conrod. It's polish that makes it shine. I thought they were Japanese actually but what do I know.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Alfa 75 can be a hoot. Inboard disks, de-dion, transaxle, RWD. The last proper Alfa before they became re-badged FIAT hatchbacks.

You can fit the bushings etc from the Zagatto. The 3 litre sounds great but you'll need an osteopath to sort your back out.

The 'isostatic' gear change is a bit pants though

Great sound, great slides. Don't listen to these mummy's boys who advocate a little hot hatch. You've only got one life!

Cheers,

Neil.
