Garage Alarm Heeeeeelp !!!

For some reason my garage alarm has started going off even when not set. All last night at random intervals it would chirp once or twice then stop so i went out and set it and it made no difference. Doesn't show on the board that its activated and the blue light on the box isn't flashing .
Any suggestions before the neighbours hang me ????
Could it be the battery in the bellbox has died ?

Open up the bell box, check the voltage suppy, but if it's intermittent and not setting of the tamper to the panel then suspect it's going to be corrosion or water ingress. Probaby time for a new box.

Just been out to take the cover off of the bellbox and hear a clicking sound. Removed cover and its not a clicking its

a rather bright electrical flash from a capacitor on the board inside so its ferked.

Bellbox recommendations please gents
Needs to be compatible with an Optima compact system.

Could just be that the capacitor has bulged and let out the magic smoke ? worth trying to fix? Capacitors are cheap Suppose it depends how quickly you need it working and where your nearest RS / Maplins type place is....
