small world in Thailand.
so.
Im on this trade stand of our Thai distributor in Bangok - a 4 day boring exhibition.
The only light relief is that some of the stands dressed em up with lovely women dressed in nice outfits. One that sticks in the mind was in a short
gold dress, with gold lace ribbons criss crossed up her legs. Then there was the stand selling shrink wrap (or wahtever it was). All I noticed was the
floor show. Three times a day, thre thai dancing girls came out and did a routine, dressed in silver foil dresses. The music ended with the sound of a
F1 car screaming past. Then out came three other girls in silver space suit trouser suits with madonna headphones, telling jokes or whatever patter it
was in Thai to the crowd for a few minutes. No one bought any shrink wrap, but they did stay to look.
Any ways, I digress.
Im talking on the stand to an American that is selling a machine (AlanB would be interested in the tech) that takes a flat cardboard box, and folds it
into shape and glues the edges in place. We touched on cars, and that he and his dad had been renovating an allard. I mentioned that I was building a
kit car, but not from a kit.
A locost, He says? Turns out that he's about to start a build based on a mazda rotary.
I pointed him to this site, which he liked, but formed the strage conclusion that my car might have been finished if it had not been for the small
matter of 4k posts.
I explained it was rather difficult to convert work breaks and cold winter evenings into time on the car.
So, even in a strange places, there are strangers contemplating a build.
So, Colin, did you register?

And before anyone quips...... No, i didnt, and I went no where near any strange bars.

It does seem that locosters get everywhere.
We went to our local aerodrome to see if we could use their runway and taxi ways to test our car once running, and the head marshal or whatever he was
was keen to help but said we couldn't really since the runway is never closed and there's nothing to stop us from being landed on.
Anyway, I digress. It turns out he had started a locost build a while back but ran out of time and had a chassis and rover v8 kicking about. He is now
building an RS200 kit.
The advantage of looking after airfields it seems is access to effing huge hangers. We were jealous.
The place was really nice though, it had a nice bar and patio next to the airfield bit and had a nice atmosphere. It's just a shame we
can't test on it.
It's also a shame that Radlett aerodrome is shut now cos it's literally a few hundred yards from our house. I think they are building a
hospital on it now.

Shut and guarded?
Or is it free to be played with once the builders have gone home?

most expos inc this one has open stands. You could switch on and have a fiddle if needed when stand is vacant.
We have had machine parts stolen before - inc whole computer panels. Machines have also been opened for internal inspection - Prob by competition.
Nice to know someone wants to copy what I do...... poor sods

Mackie, have you tried bovingdon in hemel? I was planning to try going there to set up the car when its finished. Drove past there one day and the
barrier was up and no one was about.
I noticed that the video of a jet go kart posted on here recently was filmed at bovingdon.
Sorry for the thread hijack steve!

Your work may be copied, but think your car is pretty safe!
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

bloody problem is, it still looks like that!
Yer cant see that i've
redesigned the front suspension and alingned it all.
made the doors inc all the locking kit.
fitted the scuttle top.
fitted the wipers
made the windscreen surrround
made all the internal trim and taught meself to use a sewing machine without becoming effeminate.
bled and finished the brakes.
made up the bumpers and supports.
and a thousand other crappty little jobs.
none really show up in a photo tho.
Plus I have to take my seats to bits cos the white piping ought to be black
After me hols later this month, its the serious home run of all the friggin fibreglass. I have to do 2 off 9 ft long front wing and running boards
which will be real fun - not.
If I can finish the bodywork before winter, I can spend the odd cold night prepping it, and get it sprayed in the spring, then its on the road!
perhaps.....
