Mule is being stubborn
My daily hack has stopped.
Before I spend ages doing diagnostics I thought a quick post might reap rewards.
'tis a Ganada Scorpio and I parked it up on Saturday no problems. Went to start up today and no go.
Odd thing is, completely dead and even connecting a power pack up still no power to anything....
As though the battery leads are not connected to anything (they are) Is there a 'Kill all' fuse on these things I don't Know
about?
Cheers
John

Have you lost (broken) your earth cable connection?. Happened on a Sierra many years ago - nothing will work
PS should mention it looked ok until cable was tugged on and found sheared near lug.

hey up,
my folks hada granada, from memory there is an inertia (cant spell!) switch that cuts the car out on impact (some one may have nudged your bumper?),
dont know if is cuts the fuel of all power but may be worth a look, in out car the switch was in the boot threshold, think that you just pust it to
trip the system...

mate had something similar on his mk5 escort - left over the weekend on my drive and dead as a door nail. Called the AA and when they turned up it
worked. We all guessed water somewhere but couldn't figure out where. Never had it since.

Im with Bob, I had a Scorpio and theres a red button that resets it, think there was instructions under the drivers sun visor.
I'm sure I've got one, just don't know where I've put it

They used to hide resets behind the ashtray in the dash on some models and sensors were in the boot to cut fuel in the event of rear impacts.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Mule rides again
Thanks for all the posts. It was an odd one so I'll pass it on.
The battery clamp had worked loose and dropped in front of the battery. vibration had allowed it to rub through the insulation of one of the minor
aux. wires connected to +ve terminal. Over the weekend it had totally drained the battery! Simple enough to remedy? Not really.
The power pack is too clever for it's own good. It checks polarity before allowing juice to flow, the battery was so flat there was no circuit
so power pack is useless. (jump leads are with the Kit car 4 miles away...:mad Getting complicated now, used a double ended fag lighter cable to
plug into aux socket on power pack and into cigarette lighter socket on car. Battery now has a charge to it so power pack will allow a jump start.
Yippee....
Not quite.
Because the central locking didn't work I had opened the passenger door. (alarm activator is on drivers door lock) so now I'm sitting in
the car with all systems ready but the immobiliser is activated....
All of a sudden all the bells and whistles go off. (4 years of ownership, I didn't realise the car had an alarm )
Anyway now just a case of leaving the power pack plugged into the lighter socket, closing all the doors and locking and unlocking the drivers door to
unimmobilise the thing and shut the sirens up, then put power pack leads back on the battery. Turn the key and waaahey the Grandad bursts into
life.
Kept me occupied for while...

Sounds like the fun I had with a Toyota Carina I had a while ago... battery went faulty, and as the voltage went down the alarm went off - which
drained the battery even more. When I got back to the car there was almost no power left.
Put a new battery on - and the immobiliser wouldn't let the engine start, due to its 'feature' of shutting down everything when the
battery is removed without following the correct procedure (you're supposed to use a special key to deactivate it before removing the
battery).
Ended up having to buy a replacement immobiliser!
