GRRR TV broke, insurance questions

Hi guys.

Earlier today i did something stupid and broke my Plasma TV, trying to tidy the wires up at the back of it i knocked it off the stand and its smashed the screen. Made me feel very sick and the missus wasnt too impressed either.

Ive never used my home insurance since owning my first house over 10 years ago so dont know how it works, but i rang them and the guy was good at explaining how its done. But i have a few questions i didnt ask him at the time which you may be able to help me out with.

1, I found the original reciept when i got it 4 years ago = £850, do i get to buy another at this price or is it like for like (42" plasma HD).

2, my missus has now noticed that the wooden floor i fitted ages ago has a chunk missing out of it that i didnt notice and didnt tell my insurance co. Should i ring them up and add this in or wait for the call that i will get from them in the next 24 hours to take more details?

Cheers guys, not a good start to 2011.

You'll get one of it's current equivalant, minus you're excess - prob around £400.

Offer the £850 receipt as proof though, and say that you want the value replacing and see what they say, the worst is a no!

Yes, def tell them about the floor asap - tell them to add it to orig claim so not two excesses...
