No-fly zone over Libya
Call me Dave is proposing enforcing a no-fly zone over Libya to prevent Quadaffi bombing his own people.
What is he suggesting that the R.A.F. use; kites and helium ballons on long strings. Tin can telegraphs to provide ealy warning ?
Regards
Jon

There never were any! The surveillance gear was new 12 years ago when they first started the project, but none of the nimrods with it fitted had ever
flown!
In any case, they hadn't been able to fix the problem with air-air refuelling which caused one to explode over Afghanistan a few years ago,
killing 14 servicemen - the problem had been found before that accident and not fixed, we're way better off without the nimrods thanks. We need
something, I agree, but using 60 year old airframes with no spare parts available is just plane stupid. (see what I did there?)

What we could do with is a few aircraft carriers with decent AEW & fighter aircraft rather than staggeringly expensive non-working Nimrods (we
could have had a fleet of working space shuttle for the same money !)
Every aircraft shot down by a UK aircraft since the WW2 has been done by a plane launched from a RN carrier. What don't we have
.......carriers. What do we have....fleets of Tornados & Typhoons which are no good to anyone, we even have to buy more Typhoons so we can sell
the ones we currently have to 3rd world countries to 2p each or put them into storage. Have we all forgotten we are an Island Nation in this haste to
dismantle the Royal Navy ?

Yeah the only reason that anyone is even bothering at all with the middle east, once they run out of oil they’ll be left to rot and fight each other
over their deserts

why shouldnt we get involved? Id give the colonel a slap if he were here, he's certainly got one coming. The man has taken the piss.
You cant realistically suggest its about oil, the black stuff will keep flowing regardless of who is in charge, and a war would only make it more
expensive.

Did anybody else see William Hague talking at the UN Human Rights Commission? What a joke, he was saying that any dictator or government that
doesn't allow free speech and freedom of expression to it's people had better watch out as they will be dealt with by the UN.
So what about China or all the other countries like Saudia Arabia etc etc that have terrible human rights records that we happily deal with?
If you're not living life on the edge you're taking up too much room.

It's for the Libyan people to sort it out themselves. Nothing whatsoever to do with us!
History has shown that Gaddafi will eventually be deposed and a new power-struggle will begin and more people will die... then the new Govt will get
power hungry and turn dictator - they will eventually be deposed and a new power-struggle will begin and more people will die... then the new Govt
will get power hungry and turn dictator - they will eventually be deposed and a new power-struggle will begin and more people will die... etc. etc. ad
infinitum.
As for Gaddafi taking the piss... we've been complicit in his piss-taking when it suits us (i.e. to gain favour when the oil is flowing). Now
that the tide has turned and he's for the off, we are vociferously offering to 'lend a hand' and bury him. We will of course remind
the new govt when they get settled in that we were at the forefront of their struggles and assisted them to get where they are, so can we be first in
line to set-up oil deals!? Thanks very much!
We are not getting involved for humanitarian reasons - we are getting involved for oil... AGAIN!
I hate it! We stink! Our politics stink!
It's Evolution Baby!

Once Nissan actually sell that car they're advertising or Renault roll out that charging station infrastructure we can stop bothering...
