Looks like a big bang but seems away from the reactor buildings.

from the BBC news this morning, they seemed to to suggest that was directly above a reactor.

Why on earth would you build a nuclear power station over a major geographic fault line? Just asking for trouble.

It what you do when you have extremely limited fossil fuel reserves. Unfortunately Japan has fault lines all over the place.
It says a lot for their civil engineering that none of the big buildings tumbled.
