Mind boggling...

LINK

The driver found guilty of manslaughter was:

1. Registered blind, and driving on unlit roads at night
2. Didn't have a driving licence
3. Way over the alcohol limit
4. Awaiting trial for robbing a chip shop

How do you stop these people from getting into a car?

you would think being blind would be enough to put anyone off driving! he must have used his sense of smell to rob the chippy!

You don't actually have to be blind to be registered blind. That may just be his route onto incapacity benefit. It doesn't make me resent paying tax at all.

Well putting them away for 12 years is a good start, its just a shame that some poor girl had to die through no fault of her own. i really hope prison will teach him the error of his ways although i have little hope.

It'll probably give him a whole new set of skills to help when he gets out in 5 or 6 years... house-breaking, GBH, and so on...

By the look of the article I'm guessing that lad did a very stupid thing but not out of malice or being a s**thead...

Also if you can't keep someone with 15% vision from driving then there's no hope there

Scum bag only words for such a poor excuse for a human being.
Leaving that issue aside --- it is amazing how often if you read about a fatal accident the person who was killed was driving a Vauxhall Corsa.

It's because there are a lot of them on the road I would imagine, would it have been less horrific if she'd been in anything else. The impact ripped the side off the car and broke the seat belt so a couple of airbags might not have made a lot of difference.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
