OT ebay minor rant - location

Not a big rant, but still got me mad.
Item on ebay I wanted. It stated collection only.
Location is my home town. Great, thought I.
Collection only tends to put people off so I bid and won.
I ask seller for their address.....

And it turns out they they are 17 miles away. Ebay automatically entered their location. They never bothered to put in their actual location. i never bothered asking as, well why would you? Should I send everyone a question if they really are where they say they are?
And its not like its an area code thing or a big city, its just a small town.
So now I have had to ask if there's any way they can post as otherwise its a 35 mile round trip and out in the sticks will take bloody ages.

Grrrr. Rant over.

I wouldn't normally mind if its a bit of a detour along nice roads. But its not. Its the sort if area where the locals friendly... maybe a bit too friendly to their cousins

Not that far really, now I'd be annoyed if it turned out that (for example) it's not Warrington, Cheshire, it's Warrington, Buckinghamshire (one's about 30 miles away the other about 300)

I've had to do 80 mile round trips on a number of occasions to pick up stuff from a couriers depot! 35 miles wouldn't bother me, I consider that pretty local.

maybe to you, but also factor in the item is fairly low cost, petrol or postage is going to add to it its no longer a bargain. Had I known then I would not have bid on it.
I would happily travel 135 miles, infact have done similar for ebay bargains, but thats the point, in isolation the distance is nothing. But for this item, its a pain the the arse. Hence the 'minor rant' in the title.

The biggest annoyance to me is not the distance, but the fact it states its in my (small) town, but its not. Its not even the next village. The seller sent me a message saying 'ebay put that town in, but we're not there.' Thats the thing thats annoying me.

you can back out on the sale if you want; they say collection only but the location isnt correct, so thats not the deal you agreed to. They also cannot leave you negative feedback.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Mine ebay listings come up as Carlisle, but I'm 18 miles into the countryside! There's nothing other than a couple of pubs & my place of work (a Agric Engineers) that will sell you anything at all for more than 10 miles, we have to travel for just about everything we want.
