Ebay HELP please....

No internet for 1 day and it all goes ti.....

Advise please on what to do here, sold my Fireblade TB's and despite the ad saying 'Courier shipment to UK only' the winning bidder is from Portugal!

Now, I don't mind sending them, at his risk, and expense but having never been in this situation before how do I let him down?

I wouldnt sell it to anyone abroad.

if they pay by paypal and say its damaged or say they havent got it they will refund them

ive sold 5 things to people abroad and 4 went bad and 1 i had to part refund due to damage.

Maybe this one will go well but i wouldnt send abroad.

i would state that if they want ot arrange collection and pay via money bookers or something otherthan paypal.

good luck.

Just ask him to let you have the details of his courrier company, and when they will be collecting the items, upon cleared payment of course.

You clearly stated UK.

I've sent stuff abroad, the webers off my Jag went to Italy, but cost over £80 to insure for £1000!!! its really not worth the hassle, I won't do it again.

Makes no difference where they are. If they want to be ars*s and rip you off using PayPal as their co-conspirators, then they'll be ars*s and rip you off using PayPal as their co-conspirators!

The risks are just the same as if you sell to someone in Blighty.

If he's paid for it and has paid for the insured postage, then why not!?

I've sold quite a lot to places all over the world and the only problems I've ever had are from folk in the UK!

Another reply for not sending overseas, got stitched selling to someone in Australia. Notified them it had been sent and two days later they started up that it hadn't arrived and they wanted a refund. In the end no cash and no items.

In fact since then I haven't sold anything on ebay.

Yeah I double that comment, don't let the fact that he is in Portugal put you off, but the fact that if he wants to rip you off, he can, if he claims via Paypal what will happen will be this. Your Paypal account is locked out to you, you cannot close it, transfer money or make payments, you can receive payments, but whilst an appeal is ongoing your account is locked down. If he wants to be a dick about things it can stay like this for about a month. If he wins the appeal Paypal authorise a refund from you. He is obliged to return the item, but if he thought he would rip you off, the chances of him sending you the same items back are very lean.

In my honest opinion, I would relist the item, stating that its UK buyers only, and block his ebay account ID to stop him from bidding again, better to lose a listing fee than lose your item for good.

Too many Scammers on eBay, I have been tarding on there for 11 years and have been taken to the tune of just under £3000 in that time.

I would list the item as collection only, CASH ON COLLECTION, or state that they carry no warranty and you do not accept returns, that way you have some sort of defense if he puts a claim in.

Inform them to read the advert and point out it was for UK customers only. However, if you feel you were lucky or fortunate to get a buyer, then proceed with caution. Put all the onus on them to ensure they pay for insurance on shipping.

I have been stung with exactly the same scenario.....oh it damaged!! and you want me to do what about it??

Read the terms and conditions & returns policy dude!! Maybe be slightly more difficult if he does not speak much English!!

Refund any paypal payment and don't send until he uses bank transfer?

If he still wants to scam you, he could claim that someone else used his details to make the transfer, so get some confirmation that can only come from him that he's committed that money to you

I have sent loads abroad including an engine to Portugal.

The Key thing is let the buyer arrange their own courier. This way if they have a dispute its between them and the courier and nothing to do with you. That is what i have done with no issues.

You can change your ebay options to prevent anyone outside the UK from bidding. Follow the instructions on THIS PAGE to set your preferences.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
