Postage on eBay items from the USA!
Have you noticed the enormous postage on eBay items from the USA, especially when compared with goods from Hong Kong or Taiwan?
For example, I was just looking there for a Momo horn push - nothing suitable from the UK, so I had a nose in the international section. The BIN
price itself was pretty much the same wherever it came from (about £15) but the USA P&P was just under £18 while the Taiwan seller was asking
under £4! Hong Kong sellers were roughly the same.
It seems to be the same, no matter what the items are.
Considering that HK and Taiwan are further than the USA, I smell a rip-off... unless the USA postal/courier companies are charging extortionate
prices...

have you noticed how many times you see items in the uk saying postage to uk only?
what if americans want to buy it? how would they feel?
similar thing really. the higher postage just covers the worry i guess, same as we would.
the chinese just have no concerns with posting abroad, they just want to sell sell sell!
maybe postage costs are a lot lower in china, and maybe the us post office charges more than we do?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I disagree... What you are witnessing is sheer Greed.
I've purchased lotsa bits from the UK
A just the other day example: Bosch ECU.. Not huge but a wee bit larger than a credit card bill envelope :-)
It was delivered to the west coast of Canada by Prority Mail ...5 day delivery.. Cost me 3 gbp's! postage.
Ditto on other bits: a pair set of wiper/indicator stalks... 2.6 gbp's
Parts from Hong Kong run $3... $5 postage but can take 3 weeks.
Bits from Japan (erm..used to ) be $3 , delivered by my local mailman, within 36 hours everytime.. unbelievable.
I order something similar from Los Angeles 900 kms away, and the charge can be $24 via UPS surface truck.
The carrier actually charges a 1/3rd of that
Small (in a small Envelope) pieces are between $7 and $12 'postage'.. actual postage, printed on the package is $2 or less.
Yet I order Saab parts from EEuroparts.comout of New York state and shipping (takes 7 days though) is free.
Had an entire saab exhaust system recently.. No Shipping/no taxes .. v nice.
Generally.. 'muricans charge large for shipping.. (not all though) It's a proven/documented method 'some' employ to make
mo' profit.
Only recourse is to shop by shipping charges.
Often a part/piece will be a $ more but the shipping will be either Free of at least fair.

Which is what I suspected!
It looks like they're topping up the money they get by artificially inflating the shipping charges.
It doesn't have to be like that - I bought my Megajolt kit direct from Autosport Labs, wherever they are in the USA. The complete package was
probably bulkier and heavier than a horn push, but it only cost me around $5 shipping, which I thought was reasonable. Unfortunately I got stung for
import duty and Royal Fail handling charges, but that wasn't Autosport's fault!

To continue the theme...
I've been looking for a tidy Sparco badge to go in the middle of my Sparco horn push. The only one available in the the UK has SPARCO written
right across it, and it isn't to my taste. Also, My steering wheel boss is Momo, the wheel is Astrali, so it's only the horn that's
from Sparco!
I did a search and found other designs available in the USA - one in particular took my fancy, and it was only $4.75. Then I set the shipping
calculator going - $45 normal shipping, $82 express! This badge is 45mm diameter, probably weighs 10 or 15 grammes, and could be slipped into an
envelope with the receipt...
They're 'aving a larf....
