Share your eBay madness in here......
We have a busy eBay shop and are inundated with questions 24/7, we run a not quite as busy amazon store, we get next to zero questions, it's
over 7 days since we had the last one.
Anyhow, these two questions that landed in our inbox momentS ago inspired this post.
Item title, 3 way switched scart splitter with 1 meter lead, the question, "how long is the lead?" it's pretty clear in the listing
too.
Double dimmer switch, "do I have to turn the mains off to install this?"
Will keep the thread updated as they come in, how about yours ?

some years a ago, i sold a "HMS Hood, Wooden model battleship 48" long
First question was "whats it made of ?"
My reply, was "What bit of "HMS Hood, Wooden model battleship 48" long" do you not get moose brain"

By and large ebay has been pretty good for me. The only problems I've had are where I've sold things and people have collected. I've
described accurately and when they come to pick it up I even say "have a good look over it and check it's all okay for you" etc.
Cash is paid, off they go. However, once every couple of years I get someone who will come, check it over, say it's fine, pay me then a day
later whine about minor imperfections (that were stated and photographed on the ad) Always from Yorkshire.
All I want is my tick box option then ebay will be perfect.
naturally this excludes all locostbuilders from yorkshire who are all wonderful

"Is X, Y and Z included?" in the advert where I say its just a bare engine, and make no mention of X, Y or Z. I think I'm going to
start u2uing people selling cars asking if a boat is included.

I have the opposite! I have some part worn tyres for sale on ebay and the advert states that its delivery only - no collections (I hate waiting in for
people who turn up 4 hours after they say they are going to) and even my item locations is set to say delivery only uk and I seem to be getting 3 - 4
emails a week asking if they can pick them up! and they dont even know where from!

An ECU is not any type of engine, bare or dressed, it is a Electronic Control Unit, which is an ancillary just like an alternator, a carb or a turbo

Every time I've advertised a Crossflow exhaust manifold for sale on here I've had at least 2 u2u's saying 'if it's for a
Zetec I'll take it'......if it was for a Zetec I would probably have said so but......

Does it have the cam cover, sump, crank pulley, timing chain/belt/pullies? I see a lot of engines on eBay still in the car where people say
"Engine only". Well, does that include the alternator, intake, exhaust manifold? As above, people have different interpretations of
"bare".
If you give a vague description don't be surprised when you get specific questions.
I haven't sold anything on eBay for a long time but not long ago I sold a big bundle of video games on another forum. There were too many for me
to bother selling them individually, and as a collection they were very heavy. I specifically said "Collection only, no splits" and put a
price on the bundle for half what they were worth. The first few replies were "How much for these three games?"

Is this not just an internet thing as it can be very hard to judge tone sometimes of printed words? Obviously that doesn't count for people
asking you to clarify really clear stuff like no collections or what have you.
I very rarely use Ebay because there are far too many deluded idiots who have strange ideas about what things are worth and about how the rules of
ebay work. But it's pretty much the same on any sites where people can sell things to the general public, Auto trader is the worst one because
there are far to many Knobs who deliberatly price the cars wrong and post ads that aren't really for cars. If I've searched for cars upto
£1000 I'm not likely to want to lease a new Aston Martin.
