Under sink drainage!
Has anyone come up with any good, neat & space saving solutions to the problem of under sink kitchen drainage wiith a 1 & 1/2 sink. Just
finished fitting a new kitchen & finally got worktops & new sink installed yesterday, but the drainage kit that's come with it is
absolute rubbish! I have to get the 2 sink wastes in & a dishwasher drain too - the old sink had the dishwasher drain on the bowl exit which was
good, no idea if they make such a thing in the larger diameter of the modern sinks (they are both 100mm sink exits)
Looking at what we had in there b4 with the old 1 & 1/2 bowl sink just seems to waste a ton of space - we were hoping to get under sink storage
for waste bin & recycling, all the waste systems just seem so bulky. I could go with 2 separate "U" bends & straight out
thro' the wall, take 2 pipes to the drain outside - anything against going this route?
Is it possible to use bath waste instead, which is much shallower - you've still got the "U" bend to stop smells getting back up? or
is that a different thread fitting? Just trying to save myself hours of trawling round DIY stores trying to find something better.
I know you're innovative, surely someone must have a solution!

Have fitted two of these.... really handy if you dont have space for proper traps...
No problem running two individual traps and waste pipes if you wanted!

The waste plumbing supplied with sinks always seems to be rubbish. Last one I had from B&Q I'm sure wasn't even the right kit for the
sink.
Plumbase have always had a good selection and generally have some product knowledge (in my experience) unlike the DIY sheds.

Thanx for the info guys, I quite liked the look of that Franke setup, but wanted something I could get done today. In the end I've used 2 x bath
wastes, then teed them together with a T that accepts the dishwasher hose & put the whole lot into a single U bend out to the drain, it all seems
to work ok, I was bothered you might get a lot of gurgling thro' the shallow bath wastes.
Incidentally I was told specifically not to use just a bath trap on them as apparently that still gets drain smells back into the house.

Edited to add, it's not the neatest setup, but has gained about 3 cubic feet of space that was simply being wasted! There is an opportunity for
someone to manufacture something neat & simple that solves the problem for about half the price of the Franke setup & make it available via
Wickes/Homebase or similar! I won't charge for my design idea, just give me a 10p royalty for each one sold!

The number of inches of water trap is determined by where the water is going. Ive used bath traps in the past, and found that they do sometimes
gurgle. Depends on the syphon effect! However, if it doesnt gurgle than there is no problem. If you find the tee piece takes up too much room, then
just put both pipes through the wall and into a gully seperately.
The sink joining kit from macalpine is very nice and not too expensive - it uses square profile washers rather than wedged ones, and they are less
likely to get wrinkled/fitted wrongly. It probably wouldnt leave space for a bin though.
