Recommend me a toaster....
We had a half decent toaster that eventually died. Couldn't get the same one so the Mrs bought another type.
it is pants, after 6 months I am ready to chuck it out. All I want is one that will toast the bread about the same both sides, and not take 30
minutes.....
Anybody recommend a decent one (for not a fortune)

Not cheap but the Dualit ones are nice. We have had one for several years. You can also buy spares and fix them if they break.

For the cheapskates option.......
I'm using a Silvercrest jobbie from Lidl, does two slices of toast for me every morning, bread straight from the freezer and in around 5 mins
delivers a couple of evenly toasted slices..

Lidl stuff is generally quite good - our kettle came from there!

The re-heat exhaust cones of a BAC Lightning.
Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

Tesco were selling a Russell Hobbs for half price a while back. It did bagels and one sided as well as toast, we bought my daughter one for her
birthday and she thinks it's brilliant.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Been through several "toasters' over the last few years.
Seems ALL the Chinee made ones (likely all of them.. sigh) take for Effing ever to brown up some thin bread.. Unbelievable.
Russel Hobbs is Better? Really? Dunno just asking before I waste the $ on it.
I Know Commercial toasters Are good.. but pricey and bulky.
I've learned that distance of the heating coils/tapes to the bread is important as is the number/density of visible/active coils..
All this deduced from the crap ones I've owned...which typically had none of the above.

As it happens, I was looking at 2 of those on Wednesday....I reckon it would be difficult to get both sides of the slice toasted the same, because
toasting the first side will likely launch it best part of a mile away......?

Another vote for Dualit...
We had a Russell Hobbs for about 4 years and it finally melted its internals. Replaced it with a Dualit about a year ago, good thing is, if something
breaks you can get spares and fix it yourself!
Dualit coffee maker next for us!

We were bought a Kitchen Art one for a wedding present nearly 8 years ago - the best present (and to be honest the only one I remember) we got and an
awesome toaster. Does nothing fancy it's just an apparently indestructable toasting machine

We have had out Dualit 8 years now. I've replaced one of the elements and the timer...spares are easy to get and it is easy to work on.

Trouble is a Dualit costs more than what I buy cars for
I have had a dig about, and there are a couple that are cheapish and seem to work ok. One is a John Lewis own brand, and is currently £25 so worth a
punt. Besides, if it goes wrong/isn't great JL are VERY nice people to deal with

Gotta love locostbuilders, must be the only place left where people repair toasters. Next we will have someone on explaining how they upgraded thier
toaster with higher wattage elements etc to get better toasting performance
Cheers

You can do it quickly. You can do it cheap. You can do it right. – Pick any two.

We used to have one that launched the toast about a foot into the air when it finished, I reckon someone at the factory had put an extra strong spring
in it for a laugh.
