well, mine was approx 19 years ago. I was driving a new austin montego 1.6L estate full of heavy equipment in the back. I was coming back from France when I was a service engineer. The cops pulled me over - vascar - and told me I was doing 102 mph.

In fact, I was struggling to do more than 85 mph in that setup. However, not much of a defence in court.

At that time, RAC and AA would provide free solicitors in court if it meant you could lose your license.

The story I gave was that I had a 19 day old son, and I was anxious to get back home to my wife and kid as i had spent an extra evening away than expected. Not exactly true, but then neither was 102 mph.

I got 65 pound fine, 3 points, no ban.

was told not to bring my car cos I prob wouldnt leave with license!

Thought the next one could be fastest you have ever driven on the road.....

we digress

I actually didnt say anything.

When you plead guilty, you dont swear on the bible or anything, and if you have a lwyer he does ALL the talking.

I just gave my name and address and pleaded guilty. the lawyer then did all the talking in mitigation.

He spends 5 minutes with you prior to entering the court.

I did have a 19 day old son, and I was coming back from france, with the exception that I was expected to stay overnight. The lawyer said I was eager to get back after a night away. I just omitted to correct him

The alternative was to lose my job with a month old child.

It wasnt as if I was some kinda person that would drive at 100 in a thirty zone cos I thought I was a good driver and the conditions were right..........

I got a smack in the head for doing 125mph on a deserted dual carriageway at 2:00 in the morning from a old fashioned local sargeant, told of several times, once for lighting up the rear tyres on leaving a 30 limit 25 yards early

Never booked, no points, no ban, no fine, not even a parking ticket

Nothing exciting, 45 on a 30mph road. Oddly enough it's the road I now live on.

so police adding 15 mph to my speed to give 102mph sounds like an easy get off compared to viper and mark!

I once got arrested for "air rage" on Concorde* doing mach 2, so I win.

I once passed a police patrol on the M62 at an indicated 145 mph (on the bike) but they didn't chase me, or it seems, get my number!

Lucky boy.

Cheers

Chris

*Obviously this is a big, fat lie, sorry to dissapoint.

Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

i got nicked by two fat gits pulling out of woolie edge services, at 105. got 6 points and had to do a retest, due to the newness of my license. very fair cop though, must be said. the speed probably was excessive for the day. sod it, ive avoided any more points (touch wood) so its not the end of the world.

Took my old turbo blade out for an early sat morning spin.

The clocks had been damaged before i bought the bike so i had just cut the speedo off and replaced it with a boost guage.

It was one of those lovely sunny but crisp mornings and the bike was running a treat.

Copper hiding behind petrol garage before Orwell bridge caught me rolling off from silly speed.

Thought about keeping it pinned for a second but then pulled in behind traffic and waited for him to catch me up.

His gun showed 99mph but he was so impressed with my bike that he said he would write it down as 95 so there was no chance of going to court. Nice chap! 3 points £60.

That made 9 points. Bike went shortly after that.

100.0mph on the A3 North of Guildford just after the BP station.

The guy in the Jag who was 3 metres from my back bumper got away scot free as the Cop wasn't paying attention. Too busy staring down the laser view finder!

5pts £300 fine
