Any Guitarists in here ?

We al have other hobbies I suppose.

Well, guitar and originally bass is on of mine.
Anyway I have a bad case of GAS ( gear acquisition syndrome in case you didn't know ) going on just now.
I've sold a couple of amps and have a major bit of lust going on for Marshall Ministacks. One would be fine, two would allow stereo and errrrrr.........

This is what I had been thinking of.
P.S. This is not me in this inexpertly photshopped pic of my plan.
Cool or just stupid ?

I've been looking at effects pedals for a while now but I can't make my mind up whether to bother or not as I only play to annoy the neighbours. Zoom 505 looks interesting.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Not a bad little box the 505. Not very flexible, but great for messing around with. I got 95% of the new price back when I flogged mine on ebay.

I won't argue with you - real guitarists do it unplugged.
But I'm not a real guitarist. I'm one of those noisy beggars who 'graces' stages at a wedding/bar mitzvah/warrant sale near you...
Hence the need for some new amplification. Although maybe not a mini 'wall of marshalls'

Acoustic

I am an acoustic kinda guy, (I have an old Martin and a new Taylor) although I do have a Tercer hollowbody jazz guitar and a vintage tube amp....so you get no help from me.....

Of course here in the mountains it's all flat pikin' and foot stompin'

Yeah . play semi pro every week ( cheesy duo!), too lazy to cart an amp just use Boss GX700 /Zoom RFX2000 straight into the PA.

Plus mp3 backing tracks off a laptop..........

Why ministacks ? , Marshall amps are good at sounding like Marshalll amps but not usually very versatile.......................

Why ministacks ?

Look at them - sub zero cool.

P.S. Too scared to run MP3 backing off a laptop. Minidisc for me.

I started using mp3's this year and have taken my minidisc machine and discs to every gig as backup , the mp3 have f***ed up a couple of times but I've never had to get the minidisc out , so I'm going to leave it at home now and take a spare laptop.

Also it is possible to run a lyrics program with the mp3's to save using books / music stands.

I've just been too lazy to paste the lyrics and sync 'em up. .............but soon!

We went to see Gordon Giltrap last Thursday. He is a great acoustic guitarist but he uses amplification and effects on his guitars. If you're short of electricity I can understand it but the rest of us are out of the stone age now.

I played drums originally when I was a boy. Then trombone for a bit along with bass guitar which I've played for coming up on 25 years now. Been seriously playing guitar for about 5 years now and that's my regular gig now.

You know why bands have bass players ?

To interpret for the drummer

Sorry - again, couldn't help it

I play guitar badly, and i have a Zoom 505 pedal. They are good fun, and there are quite a lot of combinations of effects on that little pedal. And a hell of a lot cheaper than buying all the seperate pedals!

Though i do know someone who plays semi pro, he had one and said they fall apart when used on stage, but maybe thats just him...

Anyway, the marshalls are cool. But why not a full stack..

I play a 1986 Westone Thunder 1 through a Trace Elliot Super Tramp 100W valve combo.

Now thats an amplifier. Don't make them anymore

Its for sale if anyone is interested. A1 condition.

I also played drums in a band for a few years. Liked being the noisiest on stage

Also have the Zoom 505 but prefer just a Cry baby wah and chorus pedal through the Trace. What a sound

Cheers

Mark
