EBC Turbo Groove Disks & Green Stuff pads

Has anyone got any stories on these Disks and Pads.

Upgraded to these on my trusty citroen berlingo van (Hdi, superchipped to 120bhp) after i had a big late outbraking moment on to a roundabout ............FADE......i almost soiled my pants!
After i had stopped and got out to look at the disks which had turned BLUE i thought it was time to get something a bit better.

The Original disks and pads had lasted a impressive two and a half years of abuse which i think is good going for a van of mines capability.

So swapped them for EBC turbo grooved and dotted jobbies along with green stuff pads.
After a carefully bed in, they felt a vast improvement over the OE ones.

However after just 4 months of the same type of driving style, they are Knackered, both sides are groove and dot less and the pads are padless.

I know the pads are of a harder compound, but 4 months!!!

Any views?

I've just gone through the exact same scenario with my Saab. I know the Saab is a lot heavier and more powerful than your Bongo van but the general opinion on some of the Saab forums is avoid EBC Greenstuff at all costs. I have these on the Indy I am building but as it weighs a lot less than normal road going cars I'm hoping they wont break up like they have for other users.

I did a lot of research before replacing my disks and pads and ended up with Brembo ventilated disks all round and Pagid fast road pads. The whole lot came to just under £150, and although they are still bedding in they seem a vast improvement on the originals.

The disks are not drilled or grooved so this should mean quieter braking and pads that last longer. I did originally want all singing and dancing cross drilled and grooved disks for the look good factor but if you take a look at high performance cars such as BMW M3's they have solid disks so that's what I went for having recieved lots of recommendations from other Saab drivers.

The cheapest place for Brembo disks was Carnosseur. I have the name and telephone number of the guy that I dealt with if you want.





7 out of 10 people suffer with hemorrhoids. Does that mean the other 3 enjoy them?

I have greenstuff pads and brembo max grooved disks on my puma. A bit noisy but can't otherwise complain. They seem to be lasting pretty well too. That rate of wear does seem a little excessive. I've heard of greenstuff pads eating standard disks for breakfast but you'd expect the ebc disks to put up well with the those pads.

I used to use Greenstuff disks and pads on my old XR2. Were great back then, but I've heard bad things about them recently. Got black diamond disks and red dot pads now and they seems just as good.

Must admit it was a 1:6 hill and had 45 box's of Bud's in the back.

Ordered a pair of them wonder discs off QVC, they dont get hot and have a lifetime guarantee.

Might get some NHS dentures to use as pads.
