Traffic Wardens

Had a crazy idea to get rid of the scurge of the motorist.

If we all always pay for parking, then the wardens would become a loss maker on the councils, and as such would be made redundant. Then as motorists we could get free parking!

Same thing i guess applies to speed cameras and traffic police.

If the traffic police were rendered useless they would be forced to return to the beat and solve real crime, and we the impoverished motorist could have a bit more fun!!

I think the theory is sound Darren, but even if we ALL started right away we'd be too old to enjoy it by the time the government gave in and sacked all the wardens and police.

Alternatively the government could designate a different county every month to be a FREE ZONE where all normal parking/speed restrictions are lifted for the purpose of motoring nirvana!

If this idea is taken up by good ole' Tone then I nominate Hampshire as a trial county next month.

You're probably right!

They'd then have more time to retrain them to marshall some other aspect of our lives.

Nice idea Darren, however, I do find it annoying when someone parks on the yellows and blocks traffic - surely that warrants a ticket, or if someone overstays in a time restricted zone, doesn't that mean that they are hogging a space that I might need?

Actually come to think of it as long as we have people who think that they are above the law and park inconsiderately thereby inconveniencing others I think we should have traffic wardens and furthermore I think that on the whole they do a great job under sometimes difficult circumstances......

I will now run for cover

I'm not on the receiving end as far as a i know it.

All said with tongue firmly in cheek.

I think they are OK when they do what they should do which is keep the roads clear for driving and parked cars away from danger areas.

What i hate is that they all love their job, everyone else hates theirs, but traffic wardens look like they get terrific satisfaction from slapping a ticket on a car.

My favourite thing in the world is to park illegally and hide round the corner. Just as you see them rubbing their hands together with glee, you run back to the car, jump in a drive away, of course giving the extended middle didget for personal satisfaction....................

There is one place like that ! The Old man in the Irish sea has no speed limits. But the island doesnt have a lot of roads. But they are free and go in a large ring.

I believe that they're currently debating the introduction of island-wide speed limits...
