Mini headlights - WLM ppl please read!
First off, does anyone know for sure whether a Mini headlight is 7" or 8" diameter?
Second, have any of the WLM breakfast guys got one they could bring along on Sunday? Just want to try it in a bracket (which I'll bring with
me) before I shell out for a set!
Cheers, Chris

Old Mini's are 7 inch, Std headlights
ie Lucas Prince of Darkness manufacture.
The Side lights are std Land Rover type less than £5 each with Lens and bulb.
The Chrome Rings round the outside cost nearly as much as the Wipac Lights!
A pair of Wipac QuadOptic or Ring quadoptic replacement 7" headlights with hallogen bulbs are about £23-26.
Certainly from Paddocks of Matlock Derby. OK its a Landy Place, but these are common fitment lights!

Select the Electrics section.. Plenty of cheap stuff there. Dont know if it helps.

Definitely 7 inch - but there are two variations. The standard Mini type has a clear part on the reflector which the side light shines through. The
mini clubman type does not need this as it has a separate side light.
They were fitted to lots of other cars in the 50's, 60's and 70's so easy to get hold of. I have probably got half a dozen or more
laying around in the garage but I am a bit far away.

Escorts had 7" sealed beams along with nearly everything else on the road at that time. Most of them had the clear section even if it
wasn't used for sidelights.. I bought a set of the Hella halogen conversions for the last Mini we had, they are a vast improvement over the
sealed beam candles.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I'll bring a mini headlight with me on Sunday as i have a spare old one. Worth getting new ones as they use normal bulbs and they are much
brighter. Minispares.co.uk are the people to get them from. Ask for replacement Mini headlight set.
See you Sunday

The plan is to get new ones, but I just want to make sure they fit in the destination vehicle - a Fiesta Mk1! Want the Crystal ones that mini spares
sell but I don't want to shell out £35 and find they don't fit.
BTW everyone says to use mk1 Golf lights, but they're twice the price!

Well i'll bring a light along and you can take it home to try as i won't be using it anymore.
You can now buy lights that look like the BMW ones with the light ring around the inside which are available in different colours!! I think they are
called 'angel eye halogen' lights.

You can't see what they look like in the dark but they are cool!
