The street legal buggy

The quad dealers are really pushing the boundries when selling these buggies.

I'm amazed that could pass SVA. Don't like the length of the unsupported steering solumn either.

There is no way this could pass the SVA that a seven has to. If it realy is legal on the road, it must be classed as something different. Does any one know what - I wan to build one, it looks fun

I think the SVA is very lax for vehicles below a certain weight limit - this would probably fall into that category

the engine is mounted on the rear axle and is unsprung. The axle / motor is unit is then hinged with a spring shocker unit to the main chassis.

Quote from mot rama website

E.P.Barrus has expanded its successful range of Moto-roma road legal quads and buggies, offering even more choice within this exciting new alternative transport sector. The French have certainly followed this new mobility trend with over 20,000 road legal quads sold in France last year.

The Moto-roma Urban Quad is available in 150 and 300cc options and both models are powered by a single cylinder 4 valve, 4-stroke engine and are equipped with digital Speedos, full working lights, indicators, horns and road going tyres. The Urban Quad 300 is the first quad designed from scratch to accommodate the new “Quadricycle” road legal class. Therefore, it is the most powerful machine available under new EEC Homologation rules, with a high specification including low profile road tyres, twin front and single rear disk brakes, adjustable shocks all round and light box section chassis. This provides for vastly improved road handling over traditional off-road only quads.

The functional Urban Utility Quad is also available in 150 and 300cc options and has front and rear racks for transporting light loads, wide fenders for rider protection and reverse gear for manoeuvrability in tight spaces.

For those that would prefer a steering wheel there are now four road legal Buggies ranging from the single seater Urban Buggy 125 and Urban Buggy 150 to the single and twin seater Urban Buggy 250. All models are powered by a 4-stroke scooter based engine, and feature front dual A-Arm suspension with adjustable shocks, rear disk brake and fully automatic transmission with reverse.

All models are homologated to EEC Directive 2002/24/EC, the Urban Quad 300 and Urban Utility Quad 300 are both type approved for 2 people and all models require a B1 or full car licence (or full motorcycle Licence taken before Feb 2001).
