Surround Sound recommendation
OK, so I bought us a fab 28inch wide/flat screen tv for Chrissie, and we have Sky/DVD etc.
If I want 5.1 surround sound from them do I have to spend mega-bucks? And what do I need? Can I just buy a 5.1 amp and speaker system - like the £100
Goodmans one - or is that boll*xs and not worth spending the money on?

Sounds a bit like what we got.. We've got a flat 28" 100hz Panasonic with a samsung 5.1 'cinema system.' There's no
seperate amp for the 5.1, its built into the DVD player I think.
I believe that was under £100 for the system. No complaints with that at all, other then somtimes wishing it went that little louder, but that may
just be me with duff ears! Its great with a TOCA on the playstion because you can hear where the other cars are coming from!

unfortunately you do get what you pay for.
Having abused my ears with years of fireworks, i do tend to spend a bit more!
Currently running a Denon 7.1 receiver and multitude of other black boxes and must say, the neighbours do enjoy my film watching ocasionally
Have a look at AV Forums for some reviews of different solutions.

amazon uk were doing a dvd player with full 5.1 and speakers for...........
50 quid!!!!!!!!
before xmas.
when I bought my sony widescreen 6 years ago, it was the sound system with it that was more impressive than the picture itself. You do tend to get
used to it after a while. A decent sized base speaker really adds to the effects!
