help with mirror fixings

Has any one on this forum ever fixed a mirror to the wall with adhesive. The mirror is 1000mmx 2200mm and the wall is brick and plaster and the mirror has no holes for screws.
Note its going flush in to a tiled area
PU silkaflex is my idea.

Anyone got a better idea?

Thanks in advance Something differant to work on.

As long as it's some sort of silicone glue, i'd imagine it needs to have a certain "bounceness" to it, just incase the mirrors knocked.

Make sure the plaster is firm...

Then pva adhesive the surface with a 3 or 4 to 1 mix to size it before you attach the mirror

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Mango,

I recently did this - and took advice from a glazier. Apparently some adhesive's corrode the silver on the rear of the mirror causing bad black staining.

He recommended me to use "Evo-Stik Nail and Seal". Apparently this is especially formulated for non-porous surfaces and is designed for use with Ceramics and Mirrors.

I have used it to stick my mirrors directly to a bathroom wall unit I manufactured and it's very well stuck with no staining as yet...

Further to this I'm considering using PU for my floor tiles as my house is very old and the floor is uneven. The old adhesive (cement based) simply cracked and lost it's capacity to adhere! (Sorry to hi-jack!)

Brilliant idea Ben, you could shave before you get up . How practical is that then eh!

Its a bathroom mirror and it full length across the one wall. We did some thing like this in the other house but I had ali sitting on the bottom and top. Wanted a more intergated to the tile look.
Thanks

I had thought that may be the case about staining. And as tiles to wood with cement was always a stupid idea silcon works a treat. In the good old days the stores at the salt mine gave out a box of silicon no questions asked. A lad that worked there glued his entire house together in the stuff.
well that changed when the stuff sprang up on ebay with the skew number on the box!

So yes tiled a whole floor in silicon has been done.........but not at B&Q prices.

Evo stik it is

POOOh!!!!

You stole my Thunder!..

Yup do this as well, it seals the surface, and gives something for the goo to bond to.
