VW carb problem
I'm sure there's some good VW knowledge around here
My bosses' daughter's VW Scirroco 1.8 carb with auto choke keeps stalling once it's warmed up. It will idle OK, but cuts out when
you apply anybthrottle.
I seem to remember that the auto choke can cause problems on these engines - any ideas?
I also seem to remember that the auto choke operates via a wax-stat, whch is the part that fails - any ideas?
If I can offer some useful advice I get extra credit at work - which is good
Thanks
Nick

Even if i knew it,i would not tell my boss
He could keep his credit by all means
On the other hand....being in civil service he cannot sack me even if he wanted to so it's easy to say so for me.

Depending on the age / condition of car it may be worth fitting a Weber conversion carb, have fitted loads of them on V.Ws over the years , every
single one has been a massive improvement over the original in terms of fuel consumption , drivability , running and performance. Also converts to
manual choke. Carb specialists don't generally like pierburgs as they are so tempermental.

There is a little T piece in the fuel line, next to the carb, the big tubes are for the supply from, and return to the tank. The little one is the
supply to the carb. The plastic gets a bit degraded with age and can cause fuel starvation - they cost about £2 and a 5 min job - worth a try
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation
