ebay postage rip-off
anyone else fed-up with chiefs trying to make money on postage from ebay. "won" some sierra stalks for 50p the other day - bargain.
chap says "make me an offer for the cowling too - then wants £10 to send them both!!! (£5 for just the stalks!) bits of crappy plastic weighing
less than a gnat's testie! even with bubble wrap and brown paper/old box etc etc, dont even try to tell me postage (royal mail) will be anything
like that. cost me less to send a huge pair of alfa indicator lenses to canada!
rrrrraaaaaa.

Yep, i got stung with postage during the crimbo rush, HAD to pay £15 p&p for a tiny mp3 player, i bought two thinking i could pick up as was only
5miles away but was told i couldn't by seller and then when they arrived they were in the same bag, and i was still charged £15 EACH for P&P
Yep E-Bay cheap place but READ ALL THE SMALL PRINT AND NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING

bought cd's recently where postage advertised as £1.50 then cost on royal mail label says 70p, also bought some injectors, bloke said a fiver to
cover postage, label say about £1.50 on jiffi bag..
not as bad I know, but makes you look twice doesn't it! was thinking of buying a standard aitfilter to the replce the k&n my new car came
with, but again, silly amounts of postage, so I've not bothered yet.
I think it's due ot the fact that you can't advertise an additional charge for a payment methid ie paypal as it's against
ebay's terms and conditions, hence people are adding ot the postage to cover themselves I guess.

Some folks use it as away round ebay charges.
eg Item is worth £5 and will cost £1 to post.
Sell using "Buy it Now" for £1 and charge £5 postage
Only pay commission on £1
ps If you dont like the postage charge as advertised then dont bid !!!

Dont forget that its post and PACKING,
I recently sold a radio controlled car and the P+P as adverised by me was £12 UK delivery.
It cost me 8 quid odd to post it and £3 for a decent double walled box + a few pence for bubble wrap and printing out labels etc.
The guy received it and the label said £8 odd for postage but his only comment was that it was excellently packaged and he was entirely satisfied with
the condition it was received in.
Guess i'm just making the point that what you see on the postage paid label is not the full cost of postage.
I also do agree that their are some tw*ts out there who will given half a chance try to screw the system but its not all bad.
I had a great e-bay week last week
CBR1000 oil cooler delivered for £10, rear brake M/c for a motorbike delivered £6, brand new rear sierra rear dif cover plate delivered £9 -

Agree with Snuggs...
I buy and sell on ebay a little... I always, always check out the postage/package costs before I bid, if they are not clear. If you don't agree
with the P&P charges then don't bid.

the few things I have bought on ebay I have concidered the price to be my bid plus the stated P&P.
Clearly if you bid 50p for an item with £9.50 P&P then it will cost you £10.00
If a seller does not quote a postage cost then I don'e even bid on the item.

I made the mistake of bidding and winning an item with no postage cost (i normally ask before i place a bid).
I was mighty annoyed to get a quote of 7 pounds for a cvh coil pack + plug leeds. Not wanting to blemish my feedback i paid the 7 pounds postage on
the 1 pounds item. When the package arrived by return post it was well packed and had actually cost 7.20 to post!
Needless to say, good feedback was given.

parcelforce put up all their charges and bands a year or so back.
anything over about 2 kilo costs 7.20 to post without even paying for packaging.
many times the p and p is justified, but there are pi$$ takers.

i too always check postage before bidding, and am realisitic so take into account the cost of bibble wrap/box/tape etc - been there myself. its just
that in this case i asked him to add a bit of plastic to the order, a part the seller admitted he would be throwing away, and he wanted to double the
postage for no extra weight/size. thats what i call a pi$$-take. told him to shove-it (in the bin), ill take what i bid on but wont be taken for a
ride by cheap tactics.
