Garage Roof

I'm in the process of putting a new roof on the garage to start a build and was wondering has anybody had any condensation problems with plastic coated steel sheets ?

Cheers, Lyn.

Yes a very big problem!, if only single skinned with any sort of heat on inside it P*sses it down!

I think on buildings they must use double layers, maybe even with insulation inbetween. We ended up putting polystyrene sheets on the inside to insulate the roof and it seems to have worked.

Unless we'd tried to go 2 far with the insulation and had stopped the garage "breathing" and thats what caused it in the 1st place.

Where did you get the polystyrene sheets from ?

I wanted to seal up the ridges with the foam fillers, but I think I 'll have to leave them open to try to balance the temperature.

Going to be a pain in the winter though !

I put some plywood on the roof then corrugated sheet over it. OSB sheet was my next choice for under it but I got the ply free so that swung it .

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Polystyrene sheets available from most good builders merchants - usually used beneath concrete subfloors. Usually come in 10'x5' sheets in 25, 50, or 75mm thicknesses

Cheers for that.

I didn't want to line the roof with ply as I think I'll have quite a bit of waste, due to the way my steels run.

I'll try Travis' in the morning for the polystyrene.

I ree roofed mine with steel which has a fibre coating on the underside. Seems to work OK. Had plain steel before and garage was always damp, and dripping onto the cars.

Used a company called http://www.planwell.co.uk/

Probably too far away...
