4ft x 3ft trailers
I'm in a 'brush needs a new head' situation with regard to a small trailer I own. It is a (decently) home-built jobbie with T&G
sides and a ply floor. Said woodwork needs replacing, and at the same time I'd like to weld the joints instead of them being bolted, for
appearances sake replace the homemade mudguards with some bought (probably plastic) ones, convert it to a drop-down tail and remove every vestige of
the original electrics and permanently fix on the tailboard which has been temporary for the last 5 years. THis all does seem rather a lot to me and I
am wondering whether I wouldn't just be better buying a decent one second-hand as by the time I've finished I might as well have done!
The moral dilemma I have is that my late dad built it about 23 years ago adn there is some sentimental attachment to it. Plus, who makes a decent
trailer these days? There is
this ERDE one on Ebay
but I have heard some negative reports on their build quality. I've also seen
this one which
doesn't seem too bad but hasn't got a drop back.
Half of me wants to do up my existing one but in addition to the above work I am hemming and hawing about building a new chassis as this one
isn't terribly heavy gauge steel and I like things beefed-up.
Any ideas?

Make very good trailers. They arent cheap but they are good. We have a boat trailer made by them and cant fault it.

Ifor williams make excelent trailers, but are even more expensive than indespension.

I have a wooden Indespension 4x3 trailer that's given us decent service. They do sell just about every spare part you could need, and I'm
sure that it would be cheaper to fix than start again.
An alternative place to find parts is:
Towsure
I've had some stuff from there - not bad quality.

I built a larger trailer for my mate to cart stuff back an forwards to his allotment (market garden  ) and got some stuff from
here. I
made a drop down tailgate as he runs his rotovator up into it but in my smaller trailer I just use a drop in board which locates in a slot. I have a
backboard held on with wingnuts so I can use it for different stuff rather than have fixed electrics.

Ive got a pair of indispension axles with wheels that i picked up a while ago and a small lightweight trailer with new lights,galvy sides and dural
floor up for sale if your interested.I can post pics if your interested and i only live down the A1.

I went through all this a while back, the easiest answer is to buy one, they are DIRT cheap!!
Just get your local "Ad-Mag" free ads paper and have a look in the trailer section. £50 gets you into top notch trailer territory!
