Last Time I ever follow internet advice without checking up (or Haynes for that matter)!!!!!!!!!!

I recently managed to get hold of a list of Vauxhall gear ratios from a MIGweb contributor, which was then backed up by others. The Haynes manual also agreed, so I suppose i should have smelled a rat!!!!

Due to this brilliant advice, I now have a smashed gearbox and no diff...................great, thanks Haynes Publishing for getting your published gear ratios completely wrong, and thanks Chavs on MIGweb for your brilliantly crap advice!!

wait a minute, smashed box, no diff, you where not trying to combine the F20 and F18 ...... please say it isn't so .....

The Haynes Book of Lies should always be treated with suspicion as well...

Hope it's fixable/replaceable...

Yup, I'm afraid so Mike!!!!!

F20 +F18 doesn't go!!!! Not when Haynes lists the final drive ratios for both as the same, and so do numerous MIGweb members, so twatty here goes and believes them!!!!! No teeth on the F20's crownwheel now!!!! By some miracle the F18's pinion seems to have escaped unscathed (relatively!!) but now having counted teeth (what I shoudl have done to start with) I have found that the F18w box won't give me much more speed anyway...........needs the F20 CWP and the F18 gearset, which means swapping the mainshafts over...............which means pressing off all the synchro units etc..........doh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fetched all the bits of my spare F20 'box back from Birmingham last night. Will re-assemble that tonight so I have something to race with, then set to trying to build a box with the spare F20 mainshaft and the diesel synchros and gears..............wish me luck!
