I was thinking of getting one of those Machine Mart lathes but I read somewhere that one of the most useful things you can do with a lathe is to cut threads, and that type, (far eastern cheapo imports) don't run slow enough or stop/reverse fast enough to be any good for screwcutting

i was told by someone who should know to get a 2nd hand one from an auction or closing down sale,as long as its british they last forever (so im told)
