Miserable thieving t**ts

Took my car to a well known rally specialist in Northallerton yesterday to have the castor/camber/tracking checked and setup correctly.
The rear geometry only need to be checked as it is a major job to adjust it and I suspected that it was correct anyway.

I was not allowed anywhere near the car while it was worked on and was ordered to GO AND WAIT IN THE SHOP OR WE WONT DO THE JOB cos they dont like being "goldfished".
The work took 2 hours and in this time nobody spoke to me regarding the progress.

They then had the nerve to charge £35 ph + VAT when I had been quoted (and their website clearly states) £25 ph + VAT

I will not be going back

Had that been me I would have refused to pay and if they had a problem suggested they take it up with Trading Standards.

That wouldnt happen to be M**osc*pe would it? I thought they had a reputable reputation. Not a nice experience. Thanks for the warning as they could have been on my list. I think they do a lot of work with the Darlington & District Motor Club - do they have a forum??

Try sending them a letter of complaint? I wouldnt be able to let it lie!

My heart sank when i read the title - i thought the unmentionable might have happened. Thank god it didnt.

I don't know about anybody else, but no one is doing any work on my car without me being able to at least see what is going on! I would insist on them showing me how they go about setting up the castor/camber etc etc so I know what has been done.

Any garage that tells you to go and wait in the office is obviously suspect!

I dont think they care for kit cars much.
No one showed the slightest interest in the car.
I've seen more enthusiasm from little old ladies in B&Q car parks

I was going to book a session on their rolling road but they can sod off now.

Darren,
Sorry to worry you with the title.

Mark,
Car is handling better but i think the damper settings need tweaking.

Those little old ladies are demons in disguise. You have to ask yourself why the are in the B&Q car park. They are not as helpless as they'll lead us to believe. They want help crossing the road one minute but will be fitting kitchens in secret the next....... Do they like the rumble up their legs when you blip the throttle?

Rolling roads - the best person in Co. Durham for V8's by far is Macdonald racing at Lanchester (other side of Durham). They are a Ginetta and Morgan specialist (Morgan main dealer i think). I have heard nothing but praise from my mate when they have set up V8's for him. My Dad got a lot of interest and advice when he talked to them about his crossflow MK. He hasnt had it done yet but will be using them.

I have heard bad reports about others in our county so beware (some of them gone bust now).

Thier site says labour is charged at £25+vat per hour. If the job took 2 hours then to me that equals £50+vat.

If in dought, get the price straight from the horse's mouth just before you give them your car to work on. Internet prices/information can be very easily be wrong or out of date.
