Appointments

Why does no-one keep an appointment any more ?

Waited in all day for someone from Lombard to come and pick up the Passat. No show.

Phoned them up - problem with driver, can't make it today.

Is Friday ok ?, she said.

No it is not ok. I've waited in all day, taken a day off work, and you hadn't the courtesy to let me know there was a problem when you knew there was one. I had to phone you to prompt a response.

And the f**kers won't tell you whether they're coming AM or PM.
Having said that, I eventually gave them Friday PM. If you're any later than that, I won't be here.

Rant mode slowly cooling down now........

P.S. When I make appointment with clients/ customers / punters at work I always specify within a 2 hr slot. It's not too much to ask, is it ?

JF - going to sit down now.

I know how you feel.... I'm sat in waiting for a pesky washing machine to be delivered... they said it would be here before 3pm, so they have one hour before I let rip on the phone to the customer (dis)services...

The Gasman is supposed to be showing up this afternoon to try and sort out the boiler too, for about the 7th time this year..... blimmin french boiler rubbish.....

cheers
Andy

I had a courier do that to me. I took the day off work to accept delivery of an engine "after 11.00". They said that they would ring if there was a problem. At 4:00 I rang them and they said that they weren't coming and that it would arrive tuesday or wednesday.

Needless to say, I won't be shipping anything with them.

The engine finally arrived. They just left it on a pallet on my drive, in a puddle of oil

Start and compile a 'Terms and Conditions' policy for couriers. Ask that they agree to it before you undertake their services... see the service improve then

Since they are unable to keep an appointment, tell them you'll just leave the keys in the ignition and they can come and pick it up anytime they like or just send them the keys and tell them to take care of it themselves. Presumably you ended your lease 31/5 so it's their car now?

I'll maybe just do that.

TBH, I just want it away now. I'll be sure to say to the driver when he comes to head straight to the filling station 1/4 mile down the road. Because, he won't get much further than that .
At least I got that bit right.

Also, what about these virtual companies on e-bay. I paid for some goods nearly two weeks ago now. The goods still haven't arrived and to make it worse they don't have a phone number, so I can only correspond with them via e-mail. To make matters worse, I arrive home from work to find I have e-mail, and promptly respond to it. Trouble is they don't reply until following day so I can only communicate with them every other day. Even when they do reply it's usually short. Comments like "has it arrived?" when I've clearly asked them to tell me when it was sent out and to what address. It's damn infuriating

I have to be honest and admit to an occasional cock up on sending stuff as well if I'm honest.
If I do that though, I'll be the first to admit and pay to make sure it gets there for the paying customer.

The problem with ebay - as you rightly say - is that there are so many virtual companies. In truth, it's just another punter trying to turn a few quid to supplement their day job. I try and understand this. As long as it gets there eventually and I don't get ripped off when waiting for something.

I'd tell them to bring trade plates as there is no road fund licence either!
