Looking for a chipper/shredder. Need to cope with at least 40mm. Any makes to steer clear of?
TIA, Ian.

all - the ones i've seen aren't that good.
I got a cheap one and its not really worth it, i've talked to others and they've said the same. One person did say changing the blade
(which cost a fortune compared to a new shredder) made a huge amount of difference.

That will be one serious chipper to do that size. I borrowed a small B&D one once but found it was too slow for serious qty's. It was quite
small tho and at a guess would struggle over 15 - 20mm.
Can you hire a big one?

In my shredder, it's really easy to remove the blades and sharpen them on the grinder.
Alko, I think it is...

Always liked the Bosch ones that crush the cuttings between two large cogs. When blocked they simply reverse themselves and try again.
Very good equipment IMHO.

If a bolt is stuck force it.
If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway!!!

I'm not in Dorset, can I borrow it please?
Ian, I think you'll need a proper diesel engined "Wife Disposer" for stuff that thick.
Cheers, Rorty.
