The ultima is a very different type of car, aimed at a different market ........

but i'd still have one, then see how it does. If i get beaten, i'd just point out that i'm a good 150,000 pounds better off

An old mate of mine has bought 2!

I used to be one of Shorty's weekend warriors, driving his truck and working on the cars when we raced TVR Tuscans in the Tuscan Challenge 1997-2000

Think you summed it up right there Mike.

Different horse for a different course.

On a "power" track the Ultima will blitz that ( I would hope!) but the handling of that radical will be something else, as they always are!

If there is one car that always gives the ultima a workout on trackdays, it's the big engined radicals.

Having said that, the Ultima has triumphed by using off the shelf components to provide performance comparable to machines like that radical.

Eg. the gearbox!!!!

Std Porsche 911 G50 = £1500 to £5000

Ricardo transmission..........ermm, won't get much change out of £30,000 for one of them!!

Engine - Powertec V8 with complex turbos = 525hp + £65,000!!

Ultima - American Speed all alloy chevy, 685 hp = £11,000!!!!

Note that apparently the powertec v8 is cheap to rebuild!!! mmmmm, each rebuild (several times per year minimum) will be more than the entire 685hp Ultima engine!!
