ISTR that its the date of first registration that counts, so the kit wouldn't be exempt anyway.

was that the date that road tax was introduced? would make sense, though a modern government would no doubt backdate it as far as possible!

Cars MANUFACTURED before 1st january 1973 are tax exempt so if it was reg'd after that and you can prove it was manf'd earlier(letter from the owners club etc) you can get free tax.

a lot of insurance companies offer clcassic insurance for anything over 15 years old

bugger, nevermind then. hate this cheapskate government. surely it should change though as we move through time. cars that were new yesterday aint gonna be new in 20odd years time and cars made before '73 are gonna be even more classic.

i think it used to be a rolling 25 years, but the thieving goverment changed it a few years back. practical classic magazine have been campaigning for a while now to get it returned to 25 years

It only lasted about 3 years then they realised how much money they were losing and would lose in the future so they stopped rolling it over. Tight gets were only trying to help people with Bentleys and Rollers but realised they did a lot of people a favour and didn't like it.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I am not sure I want them to review the 1973 fix - if it became rolling 25 year again great, but I have a feeling they may decide to do away with the historic class altogether if they look closely, and as I have a '71 Mini I gain currently
