shuttle landing - watch now!
i'm just watching the coverage of the shuttles decent/landing on the bbc website, truly amazing stuff imho, especially when you hear the figures
of speed etc, currently doing 15,000mph and about 230,000feet up!
This could be the last time we see a space shuttle land...

It landed in the dark, so saw s*d all! (just before dawn in California).
What impressed me is how little they needed to slow down to drop out of orbit - they were doing around 17,000 mph, and only had to slow down by 186
mph to start the process.

I've been watching it for the last few days on the NASA tv link posted on here. Some amazing footage and great to see the live pics and hear all
of the conversation between the crew and mission control. Glad they are home safe.
