Fun with Microwaves...

Obviously I'm not advocating the repetition of any of these experiments at home... I don't want anyone to die!

James, have you really got nothing better to do with your time than find daft websites for your amusement??

I've put a (corrupted writable) CD in the microwave to make a mini fireworks display

What do you think of the one with the lawnmower running on water using a microwave magnetron as a spark plug

"The energy produced is in excess of the power required to run the
alternator but until you get the RPM up, and the parts wrking in harmony, it
may be best to use a battery charger instead of an alternator."

Simply not possible given the second law of thermodynamics and the significant inefficiencies of each part in the system. How did he even get the microwaves into the cylinder? A waveguide the size of a spark plug thread simply wouldn't be able to carry frequencies as low as those generated by a microwave ( a waveguide for the 2.4GHz region would be roughly 2 inches x 4 inches).

There are hundreds of claims such as this on the net, you can buy plans to convert you car to run from water for $15, or tap into "zero point energy" using a nicely coiled up bit of copper pipe full of specaily "activated" water which you can get for just $20 or so...
