Freedom of information act

Interesting program about it on BBC radio 4 now.

That's 92.5FM for those that don't listen regularly!

Cheers,
James

Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

Prayer for the day
Farming Today (Obviously)
Afternoon Reading
The Archers (apparently Lilian does some digging - hopefully thats a spelling error)

did you know toads don't drink? they absorb water via there body. They also use there eyes to help them eat food!

I listen to radio 4 when driving, a) its educational b) voice helps keep me awake where singing after a few hours does the opposite c) it can be interesting.

p.s. 33 going on somewhere between 15 and 25!

Marty Feldman & Jack Elam have/had been doing the eating thing for years (although I think they do drink )

As for b) I think we're back to Sean Paul again

I actually learnt the drinking / eating thing whilst listening to the half hour play at around 7 or 8pm whilst driving back from leeds in a foul mood. Kept me going and stopped the car infront having a rather huge volvo rammed up its ass as a subtle hint to "GET-OUT-OF-MY-WAY".

Oh, oh, oh, listen to radio 4 between 6:30 and 7pm. Its comedy half hour - usually VERY good.

I've been listening to Radio 4 since I was about 8 (not non-stop. Obviously)

Just found a tape of a Radio 4 comedy show I recorded cira 1981 called 'Cliche'.

Even as an 8 year old I thought Radio 1 was taking the wee with their tabloid style presentation of everything and anything. They treat their listeners like a flock of magnetic muppets. We'll say any old crap in a cooooool way (man) and you lot will ape us. (Feel free to correct the collective noun for Magnetic Muppets)

Having written that, Chris Evans did make me laugh. Making plain the folly of the hip, groovy devil-may-care image of Radio 1 with the actual prescribed playlist and adopted, affected coolness. Got him sacked though

Neil.

p.s. While we're at it - Has anyone ever rung Virgin mobile? Christ on a bike, their menu system is so bloody New Labour matey-stylee that I'm having to move to a new provider where people speak facts on the recorded message instead of saying things like "That's great!" when you press a sodding button. Greatness can be applied to things like the Roman Empire and the discovery of the Theory of Relativity, not the ability to thump a mobile phone keypad.

They once rang me to canvas my opinion on their level of support. That poor b'stard had it with both barrels. Being fair to him though, he was provide some useful suggestions to me: "patronising", "condesending to reasonably intelligent people" etc.

p.p.s. I have high blood pressure.

p.s. cure for high blood pressure, sit next to a bloke at work who also gets stressed and agree to have silly arguments.

We entertain the whole office arguing over the stupidest things. Today it was directions..........

things like "how stupid are you, can you not even read a map?" are said with the greatest of seriousness and the least amount of intent!

Although not many people realise we're just having some fun makes it all the more enjoyable.

Pipe and Slippers

I'll grant you it's got a bit of an old man image but there really is some good stuff on radio 4.
And lots of useful 'knowledge' on there too! They don't call me Mister Logic* at work for nothing you know!

I listen to Radio1 a lot too but to be honest sometimes hearing Chris Moyles belch for the 5th time of a morning can get a little tiresome!

Driving to work there's The Today Programme which is great. John Humpreys should be knighted for his services to annoying the f#ck out of the idiot politicians we have!
Obviously he won't be knighted though... he's annoyed the people who do the knighting too much!

And on the way home from work there's PM which is a sarcastic version of The Today Programme. Then at 6.30-7pm there's usually a good comedy on.
The News Quiz
Just a minute
etc. etc.

And of course need I mention....

The Archers!!!!

Which is significantly better than any of your godforsaken TV soap rubbish! And to which I'm seriously addicted!

Anyway, it's all my parent fault- they listen to nothing else on the radio so I've been listening to Radio 4 since the year dot!

If I want music then I stick with Radio 1 or my own CD collection. Not many stations play all the metal I want to listen too!

Cheers,
James

I'm 23 and often listen to R4 whilst driving. I find that news / current affairs / documentary programmes that are actually interesting and make your brain work make the miles go past far better than listening to the same music that the comercial stations play all day every day

The News Quiz,
I'm Sorry, I Haven't a Clue,
Dead Ringers,
The Now show,
Loose Ends,
Interviews on Today and PM,
The Archers,
Home Truths,
Loads of other stuff worth listening to,

But not Round Britain Quiz, don't like that.
